Antonio Conte - officially NOT the coach of THFC

Well mate, apparently he did, indeed, ignore medical advice and has thankfully been pulled up on it.

I don't understand why this became such a hot topic? He looked terrible, was acting like half the coach he is, and was clearly in need of greater recuperation. And if a half-fit general is trying to run the show, well, there will be problems within the ranks!

Also don't think this emergency has just happened, he has probably been ill for a while, dragging him down and quickly escalated to an emergency.

Oh absolutely.
I've been saying for some time that since the loss of Ventrone he has been on a psychological spin, and add the pressure of being away from family and further losses, I am sure that the accumulated grief will have taken a physical toll. You could literally see it. Of course, illness v grief is a chicken/egg/unknown situation for sure, but I felt comfortable speculating that he was not doing well since mid-October. I thought simply the loss of his consiglieri but absolutely, I agree with you.

Then Levy might as well walk now… appointing Conte was his baby and’ master stroke’ to win a trophy. If it comes out Levy didnt renew Conte’s deal then he is dead to the fans.

He cant appoint one of the apparent best managers in world football to a club that, quite frankly, doesnt deserve it and fudge it off after a 18 months.
So Levy should walk because he was able to get one of the top coaches in the world?? It won't be Levy not renewing Conte's contract, it'll be Conte deciding that he doesn't want to continue.
I don't understand how people can't see what a tough year it has been for him personally and it may have him rethinking his priorities.

The competency of an action is not defined by its outcome.

Who else is thinking, that Conte is going to use his health, as a excuse to leave, saying family and health is more important to him, so wants to stay in Italy, which in a way excuses him for failing to win a trophy, cause he didn’t finish the job.

He has had a rough year so I think it is wrong (and I am being polite) to suggest he is using his health as an 'excuse'.

Something else I had said before Xmas was that with the losses in his life recently, I felt sure he had to be contemplating a lot in his life. 52, deaths of close ones, family away, you would. Its human. Throw personal illness into it and it is hard to feel anything BUT sorry for the man. That being said, ignoring the doc is silliness!

Understand what you are saying. But nearly every 52 year old goes through that. It's an age where people around you do start dying (older friends, family) and your body starts to have more serious complications.

Read my post again, it doesnt say that, it presumes Levy let the contract run and not offer a new one but rather than that come out they will dress it up as health related retirement and Conte leaves early.

if a contract is offered and Conte doesnt sign then that is a different matter entirely.

It reads as if you're looking for something to blame Levy on before anything happens.
There's no indication of Levy wanting to get rid of Conte. The only concern is if Conte wants to continue or would rather return to Italy and be with his family.

Feel sorry for everyone. But they'll need to get on with it. He's not the first manager we've had in his 50s and won't be the last.
This is true in all walks of life you have to get on with it, if you're working you might get only a week's compassionate leave.

But it is going to take a toll especially with all the other things he has had to face this year. In the circumstances he has done well carrying on. While I don't think he is the best manager for us. There is no question in my mind that he is a very dignified and honourable man. Hard to believe given his Juventus background. He will come back and at least see out his contract imo.

Nope. He'll just fudge off if he wants to.

Conte doesn't need an excuse.

See plenty of speculation that this is part of him leaving. He may end up leaving, but I don't think this is part of it.

If true that both his physical health and the losses he's experienced has impacted him this season I think there are reasons to at least be cautiously optimistic about his future here. If he fully recovers we may see the return of the top level manager he is in the not too distant future.

Those are some presumptions

Most walks of life are not at the elite level of performance and requirements where so much is demanded and the room for being less than 100% is as limited.

I still think he can be a very good manager for us. But he needs to get back to his best first, and then get the team performing closer to their best after that for it to happen for him here.

I dont want to blame Levy for anything really. An excellent Chairman which we are lucky to have.

I just think that perhaps both parties know this isnt gonna work out without being messy and there is a win/win and easy out for both. Fans will be far less inclined to grumble for Conte ‘not renewing’ due to health reasons rather than either leaving due to feeling like he doesnt have the buy in/support of the board or Levy not offering him a new deal due.
