Re: The 1060 pages and finally a striker summer transfer thread

i'm actually very worried that people feel we need THAT much more (goalie, winger , striker, midfielder) just to have a decent season. Cant we have a decent season and look to beat that likes of WBA with what we have now

we''ll be fine even if we dont sign anyone esle.

and we are getting dembele

How do you know if we are getting Dembele or not?

Those players arent anything new, we need another striker who can play alone up front for this formation. We have needed a new winger for a couple of years now as back up, failing that we give Townsend a run out if hes up to it. Midfielder is just a replacement for Modric and goalie is to replace an ageing position.

Of course not. Firstly without Modric we have no creativity in open play from central midfield and secondly we another striker with a physical presence. If Ade gets injured, suspended or is away during the ANC we struggle seriously. Defoe is most effective when playing with a partner

I have it on good authority that we will sign someone before the end of the transfer window. Someone will also leave the club.

What do you guys think of Man Utd's Anderson? Daily Mail saying we could be in for him if we fail to get Moutinho.....

Re: The 1060 pages and finally a striker summer transfer thread

You'd think someone if they had any kinda contacts would be able to say who that is or whether that is even a player!

One of the other criticisms about some of the ITKs is that they claim to know too much about everything going on to be real...

Would much rather have Dembele.

Anderson is better than he gets credit for I think, at least I've seen him be very good in some games. His injuries seem to hold him back though and it seems he's almost always returning from an injury or actually injured.

ITK..

i know we have needed those ingredients for a while, but we did alright season wise without actually having them if you catch my drift. good back ups but like you said..we have townsend, we have a decent keeper and decent back up...and we have played well without modric in the past

i do believe though that it is impiortant to have a midfielder that is more of a specialised passer that can recycle the ball (as people are coining)..and defo need another striker that can deputise ade.

but i still think we will be fine as far as what people said they would be willing to accept in AVB's first season. we arent getting top 4 in AVb's first year..pretty sure most people knew this (although if everton continue as they have then we need to worry about europe at all)

i think i agree with this..but let me ask....jose mourinho's side that dominated.....the one that had lampard, makelele and essien. who was the creative guy there?

Lampard, Makelele and Essien were all better passers than Sandro, Parker and Livermore in my opinion.

Since you mention recycling possession Makelele was actually very good at that in my opinion. He didn't make massively creative passes, but he very rarely lost the ball and was good at making himself available for a pass in his deep role.

They also played a fairly different compared to us, they had Drogba up front! You can get away with not having a real creative guy in the centre when you always have the option of going long to a Drogba type player who will cause every defender in the world problems. Ade makes us stronger and taller up front and those long balls get a bit more dangerous, but still not comparable to Drogba in his prime.

but also you have Lampard in there who will get you 20 goals a season, or he did then. Out of Sandro, Livermore and Parker you have er 1 goal!

The Dutchman has endured a miserable 12 months, spending most of it in the treatment room after suffering a cruciate ligament injury.

He had hoped to establish himself in the Barca first team this season, but new coach Tito Vilanova has informed the 26-year-old he is not in his plans and can move on.
Afellay must now reassess his options and that is likely to include his agent speaking again to the three English clubs that expressed a strong interest in him.
Arsenal and Spurs are both hoping to bring in more new faces before the transfer window closes, and would still be interested if the Netherlands international is available for the right price.

Barca paid just £2.4million for Afellay in January 2011, but his PSV Eindhoven contract had just six months remaining on it at the time.
The Catalan club hope to make a sizeable profit when they offload the winger and will attempt to use interest from Inter Milan to provoke a bidding war.
Liverpool will not re-enter the race, as Brendan Rodgers opted to sign Morocco international Oussama Assaidi from Heerenveen after being knocked back by Afellay.

The creativity of that team came from Robben and Duff. The wingers were the main starting point for the counter attacking style they played

Going this afternoon to see a few mates bands play, but got practice myself at 8 so can't have the day on it. Leaving all the Robbie Williams tribute acts alone. Sunshine predicted today as well, always a bonus

Re: The 1060 pages and finally a striker summer transfer thread

Jetset says

- No Damiao this window (implying he's staying with Inter for the rest of their season)
- AVB doesn't want Dembele
- Willian v.close
- No Llorente
- No Lloris
- No M'Vila
- Doesn't think there's much chance of Nani but didn't dismiss it entirely
