Chris Waddle
Valiant effort again
His passing is very oddI’m holding off of the love in. His frantic style and lack of end product was not deemed good enough on the back of many many starts.
Potentially a useful back up to Udogie but nothing more.
He is there as a warm bodyI thought he was poor. No quality at all.

His technical side hasn’t changed
Strong is not how I would describe itReggie proved most of all which zones full-backs can and should play in. In possession, he showed us what can happen when you hug the touchline and when you make those overlapping sprints. We were strong down that left in the second because of him. He also fed the 18 yard box at the right time, and was never guilty of overcrowding the inside channel and number 10 positions. It also showed us that Ange hasn't bothered trying to coach him in his full-back philosophy. He was never expecting this moment this season.
Reggie will never be a high technician of a football. Neither will Udogie, probably. Davies never has been and never will be.

Slow maybe
Sonny was better but still bottled two challenges he should have madeI thought we were OK though. Sonny way better from the bench than he's shown in last 3 or 4. Maddison tucking in on the left. There was some good combinations and we hugely pressed them back.
He is a perfectly fine back up LB in this squad, the fact he hasn't been used to save other players legs this season is a fail.I’m holding off of the love in. His frantic style and lack of end product was not deemed good enough on the back of many many starts.

Udogie is going to be great for us and he's still learning, he's had a few games where he has been very poor but he's stayed on (Brighton game springs to mind) reggy could have been useful in those situationsThat's the thing, isn't? Other players running on fumes instead of playing Reguilon because he "doesn't fit the system". Might as well use him when he's in the squad!

Could it not be that Ange has recognised he’s not very good in possession and thus instructed him to play that way?
Yeah, could well be. It could also be that Maddison is always left biased when he plays in the hole.
It could also be that Udogie can't cross the ball like Reggie.
Either way, I just thought that left side was so encouraging with Reggie, Madds, Sonny. 3 much maligned players working so cohesively.
That's fine, but while he's here we should use him because he can be useful and I know it's the vogue to rubbish him but he's arguably the best defensive LB we have and a great crosser of the ball. Might as well rotate and keep the few players we have left as fresh as possible. It worked pretty well, but it was only 30 minutes. I still don’t think Reguillon will be here next season.
