I think what yourself and Bishop talk about is very logical. It's a tried and trusted formula used pervasively in football.
The reason I liked what I saw with Pep and Cancelo was because his version of full-back was disruptive. One moment Cancelo was the orthodox full-back, and the next minute he was the playmaker in midfield. It suited the cultured player based on his attributes. It would have also suited Zabaleta if that player and Pep's career had overlapped. It also didn't suit Walker, so Pep didn't do it with Walker. Then Pep surprised us all again, shifted Cancelo, and suddenly Stones became that play maker, but from centre half this time.
What Reggie did on Saturday was also what we all loved with Walker and Rose. He played very similar to those two.
I do think the next step for Ange is find a better way of playing to his player's strengths and protecting them from their own weaknesses. It does feel at times that he's shoehorning them all into his systems of choice, which might be a little too idealistic for this league and Spurs.
