***OMT TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Liverpool***

And that's the key point right now.

My view is clear that I don't think the hoped for end result will materialise. I also hope I'm wrong.

For those that do think it'll happen - what are your breaking points? How low are you prepared to let it go to reach the upward curve?
Flirt with relegation and finish 15th?
Flirt will relegation and respond?
Get relegated and use it as a springboard?

Those are all possible if you look at the table.

Maybe the framing of the question should be "how do you see it panning out" between now and May?

Genuine question(s), asked without prejudice - I'm really interested to hear the breadth of people's thinking.

Those are only possible if we go through the next five months with the current squad in its current state of health (i.e. if we continue to have 10 players out). I don't usually do absolutes, but I will say unequivocally that if we get back at least 5 of those players by the end of January, we will be in and around the EL places. I think CL is a step too far this season. Relegation? I'm not being rude, but do you remember both the last time we were relegated and the last time we genuinely flirted with it? These are very different circumstances IMO...I am sure we both hope I am right?

Did you see my post about this earlier? I invite you to offer a more pragmatic solution with appropriate players in our current situation? Do you think with more pragmatism today (as is the phrase) we'd have avoided defeat today? Do you think sitting in a mid to low block would've seen us prevail? Or do you think tired players who have been coached in a system would perhaps find an adjustment to 18 months of work plus receiving wave after wave of opposition attacks ultimately wearing? I cannot say it would be like that because we have not seen it, but in the world of assumptions, it's one I'm prepared to make.

I personally think your 'Aussie Ted Lasso' comment is disrespectful, but I presume you wouldn't say it unless you genuinely believed it. In which case, can you explain how he is like Ted Lasso? Genuinely?
I actually don't think people listen to his entire press conferences, instead choosing to pick what fits their fixed points of view. Press included.
Funny, I done it twice.

You are just fundamentally wrong on all levels, in fact, I provided several viable options, and you are still coming out with this.

And the chances are, we still might have lost today... But it at least it would have shown the Ange has the ability to adapt and apply a nuanced approach to the situation, the ability to think outside the box, and approach things from a differnt Angle.

Yeah, go on then, fill your boots hahahahaha...
Go F yourself. I saw the original post...

I tried to debate with you, I am not the one living in denial and being an arrogant c*nt laughing at other peoples posts.

The truth is, we could have put out plenty of setups today and different approach. Your defence of Ange is borderline insane.

F you.

Fantastic debating skills, mate. High level. You’re really adding a lot to this forum.

You can't debate with people who are acting like arrogant tacos.

I tried to be reasonable, and pointing out, that Ange had many player and formations he could have used, rather sticking with system we didn't have players for.

So, I honestly don't care what you think.

Deki was available and you did not choose him, despite him having had a little time off in the last month and so probably not as over-played as some.

Do you REALLY have to throw the insults around?
Like I keep saying to him... They were examples of various team selections that could have been offered up. That was the point, not necassaily who I picked as they were examples of the player list you provided.

You can't make this up, I just don;t get why it's so hard for people to under simple things.

I put Maddison in the side, and if he doesn;t improve I would be happy sell him at the end of there years. Whether I like a player or not, hand no bearing, just whether they could play in different formation.

I'll ignore the first bit of your reply as it doesn't actually address anything I was mentioning, so your view.

'Snarky with people'? Mate, after the tones and language you've used in the past, that is rich sauce LOL.

Porro played that position at Porto. We are Tottenham. We play a different way and he has been coached in a different sense. He has NEVER been a super solid defender. And square-pegging him to right wing because he is a good attacking FB/WB is great on paper but doesnt actually bear close scrutiny unless you spend time coaching it.

Your team selections? Sorry, each side would get smashed, especially would've today IMO.
But all sniping exchanges aside, at least you've put forward some ideas and are willing to discuss them.

Anyone have any thoughts on @SkipRat 's teams above?
He has put Dorrington in defence is all I need to know. Has he actually watched Dorrington? Chap thinks this is Football Manager or EA FC or PES! Next funny choice is Maddison ahead of Kulu!

Yes, lets ignore all the slurs, insults, and insutions that came my way. That I was racist, bigot, c*nt, nazi... etc etc, but as soon as faught back, everyone ws like you shouldn;t do that.

It stopped, but now it's coming back.

:tearsofjoy:

Sorry, but this is just laughable. The mess we are in, is not because we haven't spent money, it's that we have wasted most of of it on brick, and lots of cheap options and bargain buys, spending 60 million 4 players who are not good enough rather than 60 million on one player who is.

Of course, this was over previous years, and not necessarily this year. But it is going to take years to sort out.

However, it is perfectly okay expect one of the richest clubs in the world to be chasing for honours, European places, year in, year out, whether it is CL or EUFA, we are big enough to achieve this yearly.

If we can't afford to spend hundreds of millions, then we have to develop the best of the best, and spend wisely to fill the gaps and pay good wages to attract the best players.

Not blowing £165,000 a week in wages on the likes Werner. Every game the clubs rakes in 6 million on sales during games, more than enough to start paying high wages for better players, where we need them.

We absolutely can be in Europe every year, if the club wasn't run by a bunch of donkeys

It's the most infuriating thing about Spurs, is just how much potential is being wasted and squandered. And how so utterly mismanaged the football side of things has been for decades.
You think Levy is a donkey? When did you become a Spurs fan? Because I think he has been fantastic for Spurs - trophy wins aside. How else do you think we came from the 80s/90s to being one of the richest clubs in the world? Luck?

Maddison is NOT good enough to be a first team player in a league championship chasing side. You picked him ahead of Kulu who has performed better than him over the last couple of seasons.

I put Dorrington in defence because our other CB is playing for Stoke, and everyone else is injured except Dragusin

And we can't Gray in there as he is an 18 you and had zero experience as a CB at all (although he did well there today). Bissouma has been a complete liability recently and would rather Gray play as DM and add some bite to the midfield.

Your right, this isn't football manager, but then you have to use what you got.

How fast is Dorrington? Have you actually seen him play at junior levels to get his comparative pace level? If you are playing Conte's formation or one with the defence sat back, then yes he may have a shout but he is inexperienced compared to Gray who has played at a much higher level. Reminds me of how we were raving about Scarlett without realising the jump required from PL2 to the PL.

Oh look, another brain rotted muppet, who doesn't understand simple basic things and the context in which things are said.

Like the above.

I have to ask…what are they?
Gray and Spence imo put in very good performances in very difficult circumstances. Really impressive given their age and lack of experience at this level. Their integration and development will be really useful going forward when we at some point have more of a squad.

Kulusevski was great too. Sarr did well.

Really impressed by the effort put in by our players and the bravery. We've seen teams collapse completely in less testing circumstances.

Close to a first choice back 5 and several of those goals imo doesn't happen. I know it's said a lot, but I don't think people understand just how struck we've been by injuries and fatigue right now.

We were up against probably one of the best teams in the world at the moment. With them being in good form, being able to rotate and having more rest than us. We're decimated by injuries and further struggling with fatigue.

Grow up kid and show some respect. Manners maketh a gentleman. If you have a challenge with my post, say it rather than descending into the gutters. It makes you come off as dimwitted.
No the dimm witted ones who are the people who keep banging on about who I put in "AN EXAMPLE SQUAD AND FORMATION MADE FROM A LIST STEFF SUPPLIED EARLIER REGARDING THE AVAILABILTY OF PLAYERS" to highlight that the fact that Ange had options to play a differnt formation and tactic with players he had "AVAILABLE TO HIM", rather than putting out a team to play his attacking football, when we don't have players available to play it. Highlighting Ange's lake of management and nuanced thinking.

And the players I have put in the examples, were just to highlight various player options and formations, they were not an endorsement of the player.

And the only repsonce I have got is, you haven't put Kulu... So no, the dimwitted ones are macarons that don;t understand basic concepts.

I think I am one of the people who has actually tried repeatedly to accept who Skiprat is as a poster. I do not know them so cannot make too many assumptions. I will say there are only so many times someone can be insulted before they start to get a little riled, however, I did not expect the implosion which came...

You've spotlit the main reason Dorrington would have been destroyed today. At one point I felt he was a fine prospect, but he's not long back from injury too. As for his other suggestions, they simply would not work in practice. He was absolutely right to say they were options, absolutely. But terrible ones for so many reasons. I was hoping he'd list them again with practical reasons, however apparently not.
