Antonio Conte - officially NOT the coach of THFC

Like i asked, do you know of any other top manager that has uttered such/similar words after going out of cups?
Do you know of any other top manager being continuously questioned about cups? And did we have any other manager that had us in the top performing teams in the league for 4 years straight? And why is this last part important? Because it adds context to what Poch said: look at the consistent high performance of the team and don't focus on the fact it went out of a competition where luck plays a big part. (and we did get to two semis and a final, by the way)

And one more thing: people are hung up on the cups, whereas what they should be hung up on is the team performing consistently at a high level. You do that and you'll win cups eventually. If de Zerbi stays at Brighton for another 2-3 years and has them regularly in the top 6, do you think he'll be getting questions about not winning a cup? Of course he won't. But with Spurs, it's a fudging obsession.

Its headache territory now with this stuff. Poch comments taken way out of context where is ultimately says that to be considered a big club we need to be competing at the top of the best competitions in the world, hardly a falsehood or a rhetoric of the club. The shame of all this is in the fact that we can't even have young players anymore as they all become weaponised in the argument and called cheap and club buys, rather than being seen as young players who are prospects. This whole issue seems to be in every issue talked about the club and for me, as much as there are issues and there are mistakes, its all overboard with the lengths people want to go to prove their point made up or otherwise

I get people want more, we all want more, we don't have to lose objective thought

Im dropping out this convo now as the subject goes circular and on multiple threads, will save it for when there are manager changes...

If we do sack him, his coaching team goes with him bar mason. Who steps in? U21 coaches? If mason becomes caretaker.

However, Republic of Ireland international Doherty, who left Spurs for Atletico Madridin January, said: 'Look, I hope he stays for a long time at Tottenham.

'He's an unbelievable coach, an unbelievable manager. He won't say anything in the press that he won't say to his players. He's completely honest with his players, has the passion for the whole club.

'For me, I hope Tottenham stick by him and hold onto him for as long as possible. He's one of the best managers of all time.'

And this from a guy Conte wouldn’t play anymore. But I’d much rather listen to the well informed posters on here….

But he's a gooner!

He's a gooner, no wonder he wants us to keep hold of him

Comparing one-off games to a 38 game season in the league is difficult. Teams with significantly lower wage bills sometimes beat teams with bigger wage bills in games, teams with significantly lower wage bills very rarely finish above teams with significantly larger wage bills over the course of the league season.

Yet you seem happy to do it when it suits your defense of Poch for our record in cup competitions (which i agree with btw) you can't have it both ways.

Opinions don't always meet facts that's absolutely not the case. You want your opinion and the specualtion you believe to be fact. There is a stark difference.

People have given you other potential reasons and you don't have to believe them and that's absolutely fine. I'm personally cool with that, I just think Jose was brick and provide my evidence to base that on.

I wonder how many other clubs in the history of football have sacked their manager 5 days before a Cup final?

I'd rather have a guy like this than a guy like Conte. Someone whose work eclipses Conte, because he has won titles at a club that is financially much further behind Real and Barca than Spurs are behind City, Liverpool, United, and Chelsea. And knows how to compete on multiple fronts.

Head coach Simeone this week looked to take responsibility, saying: "All those bad aspects from Joao's performances mean I am doing even worse. All his frustrations are caused because I am not capable to give him everything he needs in order to explode that football talent he has."

In a separate interview this past December:
Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has said he's responsible for the club's poor start to the season. "We had four players in the World Cup final [Antoine Griezmann, Rodrigo de Paul, Nahuel Molina and Angel Correa] and three of them played a lot," Simeone said in a news conference on Wednesday when questioned on his squad planning. "We have a good squad. Maybe who isn't doing what they should is the coach. They're the same as last season and similar to those who won the league ... It's the coach more than anything."

I mean, seriously, after reading such comments from an elite manager, fudge Conte.

While I would have loved us to have won a trophy under Poch, I was impressed that for the most part we played attacking football, something I dearly miss.

Any fan who takes information on T w attER and actually believes it is living in cloud cuckoo land. As for news reporters they have to fill space on the box or in papers and have a deadline to meet. So any fan with any sense takes it all with a pinch of salt, sadly those who have no sense fall for it and use it as fact.
