Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

The fun part of his interviews is how he answers a question while still letting the media person asking that it is a brick question, e.g. the call out on them asking about Kane 3 questions into his first conference.

Really impressed with what he had to say. Well now he has proved he can talk the talk lets ALL hope he can walk the walk. I know i have sald it before but i can not wait to see how we go and i hope we give him the time to bring our GREAT club back to GLORY.
As the coach of 400m hurdles Olympic Champion and world record holder Karsten Warholm so brilliantly says,
- Better well done than well said.

'I understood everything about him in TWO days' | Harry Kewell on Ange Postecoglou and Celtic - YouTube

I enjoyed this because he talks about the respect for players, human side, the fact he tells people to his face. People can hark on about Conte and his trophies and would be right, but talk about light and day between how this mans come in and how that guy left. Night and Day.

It's quite typical for a manager leaves for things to seem bad and for when a manager comes in for things to seem rosy but we haven't played any football yet. The separation of a head coach / club is not great vibes 9 times out of 10 and the start of a reign is usually a new dawn etc Many were positive about Nuno when he came in (although maybe they were just kidding themselves in a forced positivity kind of vibe)

Comparisons aren't going to be the way imo, Conte finished 4th in his first season with us and it's going to be incredibly hard to match that for Ange. He'll definitely win the "more likable to the masses in press conferences" trophy as he's a much clearer communicator with it being his native language but it's about how he transfers his vision to the players and whether they can carry it out, not paying fans / the club lip service.

To be clear I am excited and fairly positive with Ange in place and hope he outperforms Conte and all of our recent managers, I just don't see any night and day shouts as truly valid until we're a season in, the mood around the club has improved considerably but it'll be tetchy again in 10 games if we stack it trying to go out guns blazing against quality sides.

Was going to post similar the other day - let's be real when Conte was appointed despite there being the odd detractor on here there was a real buzz and everyone posting things they like about Conte and getting all excited about little snippets of him and dreaming up the formations we'd be playing etc. It's the same honeymoon period everytime, let's see how positive the vibes are 18 months in. Don't get me wrong I really like the guy and my gut says he will do well, but he will need far more than communicating well and playing attacking football to truly succeed here albeit a good start....

No look I agree with alot of that but there is huge difference between the dialogue of both managers, thats not a slight on Conte, he just was not on the outside very personable or that into communicating. I get he was more successful, he got all the plaudits he deserved for that at the time.

I think what people like about Ange, well I can only speak for myself, is that there seems to be an open dialogue and fans can access whats happening and cling onto that, I would never say its a substitution for success but it is certainly a breath of day to day fresh air.

Its not just because its new shiny either, Ange comes with a huge reputation of that and building a closer gap between the club and fan, thats seems to be happening.

You are 100% correct in alot of what you say, we have to wait and see alot can happen

But till then, I will enjoy what are perennial high moments and time for optimism

Oh yeah I'm not trying to kill any optimism, it's great to have hope and the fresh energy around the club. However we haven't had any moments yet, it's all talk, De Boer no doubt talked a good game about bringing attacking football and success to Crystal Palace. It's more bringing Conte into it, which anyone is entitled to do of course but as they say, comparison can be the thief of joy and Ange is his own man, to match what Antonio did in his first season with a false start under Nuno / no pre season would be quite an achievement (I'd rather just fudging win something but that's a different tired old debate!).

The postman might be hitting more buzzwords in the press conference and giving off good vibes, which is wonderful but as Harr says, it's in 18 months we'll see what's what.

Every manager sounds great and looks like exactly what a team needs until they start losing games.

There's an incredible amount of hopium being taken in the Spurs fanbase as we hear up to seeing what Ange can do.

Hopefully it's great things but you would think it's a forgone conclusion the way some are talking.

To be totally honest I haven't seen anyone say it's a forgone conclusion or allude him producing major success, especially not year one. In actual fact those who are the more optimistic including myself have actually mentioned plenty of times how they are also realistic to what would be seen as success and progress year one. Personally top 7 with a clear sign that what's being implemented is working would mark success.

One of Ange clear strengths in his communication, it's noticeable from what's available to see and literally everyone in the game that knows him talks about it in public, commenting on that and being impressed doesn't mean people hink success is guaranteed.

Being optimistic doesn't mean people are deluding themselves

Strange how people read things so differently, the vibe I’m getting is cautious optimism? Loads of comments about how it will be nice to just play some attacking football again and have the fans / club united again.

Unless you mean we’re assuming the attacking football part is a forgone conclusion?
