Tottenham Hotspur V Brentford

What a relief! You can see how much that meant to the players. Scrappy win, not lucky, but we were fortunate Brentford couldn't capitalise on all their crosses.

Also: Two clean sheets in a row, something we haven't had at Spurs since medieval times.

Great afternoon. Now let's top it up with a third PL 0-2 result!

Not much tactical difference in that from what we've been seeing in recent weeks imo. Just that it worked this time. No individual errors that cost us and we defended well.

Had Brentford won the ball and countered from the buildup to the 2-0 it would be all why is Sarr so high up the pitch...

I actually thought we looked OK in that regard. Thursday was a massive boost. And yes. Just two more senior subs would make the diff.

My big takeaway is that we looked more solid without Drags...
Son, Richarlison and Kulusevski all struggled for energy imo.

Turns out having two centre backs that are reasonably comfortable (or more) on the ball under pressure is really rather useful. There were periods of sustained pressure, but we were able to get out and keep possession without having to ask for really high risk stuff from our full backs and deep midfielders too often.

Not been one for decades but... and it would not be good for the heart, I will take us finally being involved in a 0-0 game on Thursday night

I’m heading out for a ruby and a few beers. Come on City, make it a Carlsberg day.

...Sonny turned on some of his old burners to beat his man late in the game. Looked less tired than usual IMO. Richy was gassed and sub was at the right time. Deki could do with a rest for sure. For once the early KO helps us...a little extra time to recuperate for Thursday...

Your first paragraph is key. Of course suddenly pundits are saying we only changed today LOL..:

People may hate this but these are the tactics that work at the top level unless you know how to press and maintain your shape if your press is beaten. And guess what we didn't have a recognised CB. So don't just blame injuries sort out your tactics first. Great result.

I just wish we could enjoy a win...if you look in recent weeks we have been doing pretty much this. Individual mistakes/jitters have cost us. The difference today was in having two players at CB who are comfortable on the ball (I hold my hand up, I did not think Drags lack of ability on the ball hurt as much as it obviously has). Kinsky has been an important addition. Having a fit CF has been important.
