I think we're all waiting to see whether Ange is ultimately a "winner". He's thrown me with a couple of his presser comments where he's almost intimated that playing the right way is more important than winning. He's left us exposed to an equaliser in key phases of matches because there is things that he refuses to change. Saying that, I think Pep has always gone for the next goal rather than defending the lead he has. More likely, Pep found ways to do both. Ange hasn't yet.

I also think it's fair to say that the club aren't winners, but it is not right to say that the fans aren't winners. I have a feeling that a lot of the fans win so much in other aspects of their lives, and they struggle with their club not matching the bar that they set.

It's a problem in team sports, you can be the greatest player ever but the team hold you back.
George best for instance for NI, cryuff for Netherlands, even Messi with Argentina.
We've only had a couple of players in recent memory who have had that belief in themselves.
There's no doubting the talent of our players, but they lack that belief, jose looked at Poch squad and thought he could instil it, Poch said it with his be braver.
Ange believes in himself, he has won everywhere he has been, now he has to transfer some of that to spurs.

We've definitely lacked that talismanic, winning spirit from key players. We had it from guys like Hugo, Walker, Rose and Wanyama but some of the big names like Kane, Sonny, Dembele and Eriksen just didn't have enough of that. It was a flaw in them that guys like Ronaldo and Messi don't have. They step up and take responsibility when it matters.

I don't doubt Ange has some of it. That's never the angle I come at it with Ange though. It's just down to his choices within his tactical system. That's the sub-optimal piece for me. It probably wasn't required as much either in prior roles.

Just joined, so scrolling through the posts top to bottom. I have been attending games since 1971, held a season ticket for 20 years, but now live along way away. That said I still mange to do half a dozen games a season, although not enjoying football under our present manager, so only done one game this season.

As far as the fan base is concerned, we now have quantity, but not quality. Our stadium is normally very quiet, but this partially because of the fear of singing or saying something that isn't woke or politically correct. Even as a country our supporters lack the passion of the supporters in most countries

As I said earlier, though, the club feed it themselves (“The stadium is a game changer”) and Ange has too (“I didn’t come here to finish second…I always win something in my second season”).

Anyone who thinks things through sensibly can see that we don’t employ the necessary strategies as a club to win the PL, or even to put ourselves in the best place to win trophies. But people are paying top-dollar for tickets, and listening to what they have been told to help shift those top-dollar tickets - so it inevitably comes unstuck.
Agree with your point Mikey, but I've seen you bring up Anges comment about winning something in his second season a few times, which really was not a big deal whatsoever. A journalist said something that was factually incorrect and Ange corrected it - it happens all the time, why is it a big deal? Not as if Ange had planned to bring it up, he had never announced he's always won things in his second season before. Just the usual drama out of nothing you get on Twitter these days.....

I do think our fan base is fairly deluded about our place in the game and usually the relative quality of the side so I guess the anger at poor results comes easier than maybe it should. But that isn't a this season thing, that's something I've felt is the case for decades. The same guys lots we were going to win the league last season so of course they are super annoyed, I mean if you expect 1st but finish 5th you're gonna be upset.
Exactly. Look at Chelsea's squad today, it's far superior to ours even without all the injuries we have. But rest assured, if we lose today the place will be toxic. Our fans really don't help, I've been going less and less the last few years as if things aren't going our way the atmosphere is just awful, I seem to have a different definition of support to many who go.

The label we have by many others is one of suffering delusions of grandeur which is pretty accurate for me. You only have to look at what we have actually won to see this, at our best we were a decent cup team - we've only won the league twice in our history....

It's a vicious circle. The worse we get the quieter the crowed gets, the quieter the crowd gets the worse the team plays. Attend a game in Turkey (for example) this doesn't happen

I want us to be angels off the pitch, I enjoy our moral superiority over the money and chemical dopers.

But on the pitch, whatever it takes, cheat as much as we can get away with.
That is a strange perspective. Why are you against cheating in one respect but all for it in another?

I used to take my son to matches, never understood how people could use the language they did with children around them. Even at friendly matches with family groups some people would hurl dreadful abuse at the players. Stopped taking him once he got in his teens, I could tell he was feeling uncomfortable ( he had begun to loose interest anyway). Went to the new stadium for the first time to see the Brentford match, it wasnt as bad, though I got lucky with the seats. Not a big fan of Ange but nobody deserves the insults that he got shouted at him the other night. There will always be criticism of players and managers but the clubs need to do more to try and stamp out foul and abusive language.

I also think that the music before kick off is too loud and agressive. Perhaps a bit of Vivaldi would calm people down a bit.

None id guess
A hell of a lot of online vocal spurs fans don’t have ST tickets
A lot of them are people who wouldn't pay for tickets largely due to the way we are run. I know I didn't attempt to get a season ticket when the opportunity arose.

It's weird, a lot of people attending the games are high level professionals of industry yet they turn up to a football game and apparently that gives you licence to turn into a caged animal. I know a portion will be on drugs, but plenty clearly aren't and it just makes the experience a largely negative one for those that are there to enjoy the atmosphere and football....

Different types of cheating, financial/chemical are out of sight, skew the competition.

Time wasting, diving, tactical fouling are all done in full view of everyone.

Seems like another excuse to have a pop at our fans. I think we’re largely the same as most other fanbases in English football, the only two who standout for me as being Uber patient are United and Liverpool fans. Every other set of fans gets the hump after 25 minutes if they’re at not winning against a team they should be beating at home.
