Absolutely spot on. When I listen to 606, our fans are actually often amongst the most rational. Our fans are the same as every other fanbase.
Some are positive while some are negative. Some are delusional while others are realists.
Some are rational, others call in to Talksport.
Some are hard-core, others are casual.
And so on......it's the same up and down the country.
As I said earlier, though, the club feed it themselves (“The stadium is a game changer”) and Ange has too (“I didn’t come here to finish second…I always win something in my second season”).I do think our fan base is fairly deluded about our place in the game and usually the relative quality of the side so I guess the anger at poor results comes easier than maybe it should. But that isn't a this season thing, that's something I've felt is the case for decades. The same guys lots we were going to win the league last season so of course they are super annoyed, I mean if you expect 1st but finish 5th you're gonna be upset.
yep your being truthful..were all clams at times. All football fans are clams.
Me included.
I think that makes a massive difference to be honest. People who played into adulthood have a much better understanding of the game, but also perspective around things like form, psychology, injuries, over or poor coaching. I.e. the human factors about why performance can be variable, irrespective of how hard you tryI'm embarrassed to say I'm a Spurs fan as I've found the fans around where I use to sit are horrible people, it's the main reason I've stopped going, their constant negativity and abuse is childish no matter their age. I can't believe that many of the critics have ever played the game since they were at school. Why anyone with so much hate would want to watch a game that makes them so angry puzzles me. I watched and played because I enjoyed the comradeship with my mates and although I was desperate to win every game I learnt to accept whatever result you get and move on.

Anyone who thinks things through sensibly can see that we don’t employ the necessary strategies as a club to win the PL, or even to put ourselves in the best place to win trophies. But people are paying top-dollar for tickets, and listening to what they have been told to help shift those top-dollar tickets - so it inevitably comes unstuck.
I've always thought the Spurs stakeholders divide into different groups. You have the actual "supporters" who go to the games and within this bucket you have the "away supporters", the privileged ones who get those category tickets. Within the supporters your also have the season tickets holders, the One Hotpur members and the general sale. Another sub-category is people like myself who are mates of a season ticket holder and get to go to selective games each year. That stadium is made up of all sorts.
Everyone else is really a "fan". They are mostly consuming the club through the TV channels, which is mostly my main persona. I think the TV fans can get more influenced by the media. Those red scumbags at Sky are some of worst to be fair, not to mention the idiots on stations like TalkSport. Then you have the socials which adds further complexity to the equation.
I think fans on forums perhaps even become the most balanced in their viewpoints. The forums help to smooth some of the stupid sensationalism that comes from the toxic media. It also has a health dose of supporters that can give you insights from the stadia.
In general, I think being the club with the 6th biggest resources in the country is a very tough place to be. You have the expectations of the clubs above you without the trophies. However, you don't ever experience the highs and lows of promotion and relegation either. It's just year after year of mediocrity and frustration. I can see why some fans go into meltdown far easier than they should.
In this very period, I still convince myself quite easily that the direction of travel is still the right way. That's all you can mean do.
I think we all project a little bit of our own personality onto support we give.
Anyone who knows me knows that I am super competitive, that I want to win. However I'm quite happy to not win as long as I have given my best.
I would rather lose than win by dodgy means.
If we went down the city our Chelsea route I'd give it up and tbh it's the same with Arsenal and partey.
When I win I want to be able to look myself in the mirror.

It’s not what we’re aboutI want us to be angels off the pitch, I enjoy our moral superiority over the money and chemical dopers.
But on the pitch, whatever it takes, cheat as much as we can get away with.
I don't get to as many matches as several here obviously, but on average I make about 6-7 games a season (this season being an exception it must be said). From my youthful days as a Shelf ST holder to now, I've seen changes which appear to mirror society in may ways, but there have always been a few individuals who just like to be clams/are clams.
What I notice now more than anything is the level of vitriol and pure bile. Especially in the last 6 to 8 years. Some of it is so toxic that I have to say something/tell perps to STFU, because if we don't stand up against mindless abusive oral diarrhea, then it goes on unchallenged. Generally, the away supporters have always been a bit wiser and more measured IMO. There is (as many have said) an air of entitlement which I suppose runs counter to what I believe in. I believe in Tottenham playing with that sense of audere est facere, and if we win like that it always feels more glorious. I think some of the jolity and humor has also left the game. There's no real sense of joy, it's either 'I should be having this experience anyway' or it's just so serious. I don't see people having a laugh as much as they used to at game, I don't see as many people just smiling and enjoying being in N17 (or on an away day - still a favourite of mine).
I'm going to be 58 in March. I still play once a week, I still feel naively excited whenever I am over and it is match day, I still smile and absord every moment of a match day, and I still believe we will win every game, because what's the point of being a supporter if you don't believe you can win? Slowly but surely, football is trying to squeeze all of that from me, whether it be Levy sacking Pochettino, whether it be some absolute f u c k i n g. t-wat hurling abuse mindlessly at a player (and therefore causing me to react because I won't listen to that brick unchallenged), whether it be the latest vitriolic social media/online 'campaign' to demonize someone, whether it be UEFA, FIFA and the PL conspiring to break players.
But somehow I can't give it up. And I won't.

I assume you are alluding to anges comments?
I see these comments and quotes as good in principle but backfiring.
Not for one minute do I believe they mean what they have been spun to mean.
In his mentality ange is a winner, we aren't.
What he is really saying is we don't need to change, the opposition does because we're better.
He's trying to instil a belief.
It's like the this is anfield sign at Liverpool, the club he supported as a boy, it's gives the players a lift and knocks the opposition.
It's the first thing needing fixed and probably the hardest.
It's backfired in public because if you have to explain it it loses it's power.
Much like a joke is no longer funny if you have to explain it.
