The transfer thread

He was brilliant for Coventry in the championship despite being really young. I loved the way he was an absolute nuisance to defenders as well as having an abundance of physical and footballing ability. It was easy to tell even back then that he was destined for really good things, hence why I talked him up as being a really good signing for us at that time.

I also suggested Ivan Toney as a great option for a January signing for us back when he was still at Peterborough. It was the window when Mourinho had lost Kane and was moaning that he needed a number 9 for his system (which was a far moan to be fair to the washed up old Narcissist). Everyone was talking about there being 'no-one available that we could get'. However there is often talent in the lower leagues if you are looking for the right things.
The clubs wanted him via Pleat
Same at Watkins
Mou said no

Serious question
Maybe should be in the Ange out area
Would you rather the club buy the 3 payers this window for a lot of money 100M
Or the sack Ange?
Sorry - Just found out from my mate that was a question on the VFTL pod

My view is perhaps different than others. Pretty much all the players we buy are for the long term and can transcend multiple managers. So there is nothing wrong with buying as long as it fits the model and it obviously doesn't bankroll us.

We won't get another incremental 3 players this window and even of we did, with the promotion of youngsters would put us back into the bloated squad category again. We know what happens there. Peripheral players lose their valuation, the squad culture is impacted and we start loaning senior out because we can't find buyers. Let's not go there. We're about at the one-out, one-in point now. Let's keep it that way.

Fully agreed. Any one or two players that fit that mould would be my hope. And way rather that than sack Ange (for now).

Sacking or retaining Ange is going to be one of the club's toughest decisions for years. I was probably 60:40 keeping him until recently. I'm more in the 60:40 let him go camp at the moment. One thing is certain. He is not getting me to 80:20 in his favour.

I hope we don't let the Ange conversation halt the squad development though.

Him being brick has screwed our squad development though. Not being in Europe next season will mean we significantly need to shrink the size of our squad again.

Yep, just been writing about that on the other thread with the midfield equation. It wasn't in the script to not be in UEFA.

Do we ?
Just sell son and release Davies
Maybe Dragusin too
A CM can go
Sell Gil and Veliz and take the hit
That a squad in the tight size and shape
We'll only have 40 games instead of 60. We wont be able to keep 7 CMs or 6+ attackers. All our youth players will need to go out, as there will be no minuted at all for them. Its really not a good situation, we need to fluke a cup

Quiet window so I'll paste this here...

Trix:
Ousmane Diamonde. Told we enquired, but I'd be very surprised if it came to anything personally.

Apparently he's very quick and a decent ball playing CB

I5 wouldn’t be 40 games
We could do what we have done in the cups and get that to 50

If we blew all our summer money on Dibling and Delap (and got Mitchell on a free), I'd be very happy.
I'm not sure I would take Mitchell. I don't think he is good enough on the ball for an attacking team.

If we're looking for a young left sided player to provide cover/competition for Udogie then El Hadji Malick Diouf from Slavia Prague would be my medium to long term pick, especially now that Dorgu has other suitors amongst the bigger boys and his transfer fee has gone up significantly. Diouf would probably cost half of Dorgu's fee and has similar attributes and potential I think. He would probably need 6 months to adapt to English football which is why I'd supplement that with Chilwell on loan until the summer.
