The transfer thread

We don't have an issue with HG status now. We already have 3 spare spots for overseas players, 4 if you take Regulion's inevitable departure.

Trippier was (and still is) far better on the ball than Mitchell, that is a poor comparison I'd say. Mitchell is a defensive full back. Fine in a defensive team like Palace. He'd probably also work at West Ham or Brentford. We're not that team these days (though of course it is entirely conceivable that we lurch back to that with our next managerial appointment)

How good on the ball is Udogie though? I don't always see him being really subtle, but he can be really effective. Be interesting to compare the first touch and close control and passing of Udogie and Mitchell. I think it was implied that Dorgu's would be a notch up though.

I'm not a fan of buying players if they're not the long term fit.

We went into this season with 20 seniors (though the term is used reasonably loosely with some of the below).

Vicario
Forster
Udogie
Spence
VdV
Romero
Dragusin
Porro
Davies
Regulion
Sarr
Bentancur
Bissouma
Maddison
Werner
Son
Johnson
Kulu
Richi
Solanke

I think Gray and Bergvall were both always for the senior squad. They basically replaced Skipp and Hojbjerg. And Odobert was always likely to be our first choice LWF.

Interesting not calling Austin and Whiteman seniors, when they are both about 34!

3 weeks in, one goalkeeper signed...

This is the story. Unlike others, not so quick to dismiss this as "bunch of donkeys run the club, what do you expect"

Keeper was just a pull forward, player was already identified, part of long term plans.

The lack of anyone else is concerning, as this may be more a reflection on the club's view of manager than current situation,

Yeah, seems odd to me. The injuries had been piling up for a couple of months before the window opened. Although nothing about Spurs really surprises me anymore.

Probably unpopular but with 6 months left on his contract I would be looking at Jonathan David and putting most of our money into midfield personally. Wide areas I think we can cope for now, CB I think looks stronger in a couple of weeks except maybe LB. Summer I would be focusing on WF when more are available

To me it’s a no brainer
There is also Angel Gomes that too
Both are out to contact and the kind that you can sign and sell on at a later date for a paper profit if need be. And I know people would say wages.. but there would be minimal fee

I dont think either David or Gomes are suited to the EPL at all. Neither have any physicality, and i dont think there's an obvious role for either of then in our system - David would be Son-like at CF and Gomes defends worse than Maddison

I agree with you on Gomes. I think he'd be terrible in the PL. Tidy little passer but zero strength. Will be interesting to find out for sure next season when he gets a free transfer somewhere

We should swap our squad with Lilles squad for a season and see if we are any better.

They look decent and have given Pool a go, with ten men too. Some decent players there

I mentioned this earlier in the thread there's some decent freebies in the summer.

Apparently though he doesn't want to sign a pre contract and wants to see what his options are in the summer.
