The transfer thread

I guess the question becomes what would Spurs have done in this transfer window if the league had gone to plan and we were 4-6th in the table? What would be our plays in the market to get some incremental improvement of this squad? What would get us into the CL places?

Perhaps this is me being arrogant, but I still think we should act like that in these next 10 days.

I don't think we'd've done anything different. We were short a backup GK, a starting RWF and a back-up LB. We signed Kinsky and tried for Munai. I don't think there's other RWFs or LBs available that we really fancy now.

Buonanotte is an interesting link. Could he really be recalled and sold to us within the space of 10 days?

This one feels right to me.

Maybe. I like him and he seems a good fit. Veliz's old strike partner too!

I just dont trust Brighton though. They only sell when value is at its highest. Players dont tend to go up after they leave them.

Apparently we’re considering Ari Vaderci as a possible option if we can’t get Buonanotte over the line.
I've heard we're also looking at Conceda Ownagolla, but we're probably already got good cover in that area, so probably not a priority.
Retro Cesso is avaliable on free transfer, but he's probably going to Southampton.

He has stepped up at every level he has been given the opportunity too
It’s the case for a lot of players
Ivan Toney would be an example
Then you have your Ian wirghts, Vardys

Sure. It's just that we've all seen those strikers who boss it in leagues like Portugal or Holland, but can't make the jump up to England or Germany or Spain. I know his championship season bodes well over others who haven't experienced the pace and physicality.

If you watched him in the championship he did look a level above most on the pitch.
Would've been a brilliant signing from the championship and considerably cheaper than now.

So the price now may make it too much of a risk.

He was brilliant for Coventry in the championship despite being really young. I loved the way he was an absolute nuisance to defenders as well as having an abundance of physical and footballing ability. It was easy to tell even back then that he was destined for really good things, hence why I talked him up as being a really good signing for us at that time.

I also suggested Ivan Toney as a great option for a January signing for us back when he was still at Peterborough. It was the window when Mourinho had lost Kane and was moaning that he needed a number 9 for his system (which was a far moan to be fair to the washed up old Narcissist). Everyone was talking about there being 'no-one available that we could get'. However there is often talent in the lower leagues if you are looking for the right things.

I think for us his age is likely an issue, especially him being the same age as Solanke and Richy. We probably need to be looking early 20s when we next look at a #9 (if it doesn't become Lankshear's shirt)

What a move this would be. Though if he's got nous then Leipzig are a great shout for career development. Still, I think Dibling left Chelsea because of homesickness and not being able to settle so may not want to fly far away.
And, forgive the obvious joke, as he's out for at least 4 weeks injured, he'd fit right in here.

That price is surely wrong. We'd be looking at north of Archie Gray cash to get him. Just because Leipzig are prepared to pay 30 million euros doesn't mean they can get him for that amount.

The Gyokeres ship has definitely sailed, not just because of age but because of cost and the fact that the player now has the pick of way more ambitious clubs than Spurs. The time to get him was a few years ago when he was being sold by Coventry.

Delap from Ipswich is the person that we should be doing all we can to bring in this summer. To be fair to (I think it was) @Danishfurniturelover - he was calling out both him and Cole Palmer as being players we should be doing all we could to sign before most people had heard of them.

Having Solanke and Delap would be the perfect two players for number 9 role in our squad going forward. We can then concentrate on our wide forwards as being specialist wide forwards.
