The Goon Thread

i was never arguing whether they "had enough (defenders) or not". my point was simply that their perceived lack of defenders (number wise) was being overplayed by the media, and was therefore being given too much signifance when considering their "poor form" (again, perceived).

i was pointing out that the players that had covered for their main 2 centre backs performed well, and that to attribute much blame on this issue was a red herring. and then i gave examples of other teams, notably chelsea to who you could draw some comparisons to.

if arsenal desperately "needed" a defender, why didnt they have one more at the start of the season? from looking at how wenger acts in the transfer market over the past few years, its obvious that he only buys players when he beleives that there is sufficient value to be had (as opposed to simply filling gaps in the team). i think thats why he bought the new brazilian cb. and thats also why he has many attacking players too. basically, he beleives that these guys represent good value. if he couldnt find a defender that was "good-value" i doubt he wouldve bought one this window.

When Neymar continually argues from the standpoint of "If Arsenal or Arsene Wenger needed x why didn't they buy x" or "If x was needed by Arsenal or Arsene Wenger they would have bought x" then you know he has a biased, pro-Wenger/Arsenal viewpoint and it is a waste of time debating with him on such matters.
Clearly Neymar believes Arsenal and Arsene can do no wrong.

In fact, i wouldn't be surprised that he makes more posts defending Wenger, defending Arsenal, attacking LVG whilst defending Wenger than he does on Spurs-specific matters.

I don't think that is true anymore. I think that a lot of Arsenal's signings have been reactive of late and often after they have come under pressure from the fans.

My understanding is that Wenger has become very cautious. This combined with the facts that the people who do their player analysis are based in the States has made them very slow to act in the market.

Funny how clams I work with said nothing on Monday or Tuesday but were straight over my desk this morning, I told them to fudge off

I just met one of the new work Goons today who immediately reminded me they were above us in the league. I just told him given their massive wage bill they bloody well should be. Pikey Gooner Scum are such tossers.

Alright. So you when you saw criticism of Arsenal not having enough centre backs you compared them to Chelsea because??? It wasn't as a direct response to that criticism defending Wenger's approach? Sure...

Agreed.

Arsene Wenger says France striker Olivier Giroud, 28, who scored both goals in the Gunners 2-0 FA Cup win over Middlesbrough, is a transformed player

3-1 loss at home. Bloody hell. Will the English co-efficient be fudged too badly if they and Emirates Marketing Project drop out now or not?

"I need whiskey and a bag of strong glue to get over this. I feel like phoning the police to scream down the phone or something. Or going on a naked vandalism spree. The anger is uncontrollable right now."

:D

Here's a bit of trivia I don't know the answer to and maybe @THFC6061 can help out:

Which Arsenal manager has lost to Spurs the most times?

I'm counting seven with this one....
