The Cricket Thread

Back to our rightful place as number 1. Order is restored. All is good.

Being the true cricket fan that you are, I am sure you are fully aware that even a 3-0 win to the Aussies would not put you at number 1. Remember the rankings are based on a 4 year cycle and while your 6 wins recently have been impressive and you would be considered the "form" team, the crap results you have had over the previous 3 years is the reason your ranking is insufficent to become no. 1 after this series.

I thought if we did win this series we went top?

Oh well, im half expecting to get tonked the rest of the series and having you fine folk rub my nose in it. That'll teach me for posting drunk.

McCulllum with the first ever triple hundred for NZ, he also got a double hundred in the 1st test too

NZ are definately the best up and coming team in test cricket these days, great series win against India

When I went to bed there was a small chance there was going to be another smug post from me today. Woke up to **** results all round.

How can Bresnan and Dernbach be our death bowlers unreal the filth they serve up... Juicey half volleys in last over 664 series over

2 huge games to start the ICC Cricket 20/20 WC today

Bangladesh v Afghanistan and Hong Kong v Nepal

Bangladesh are my outside bet to go far, great spin attack and Iqbal at the top of the order can take a game away from you before its started. Shakib Al Hasan is also some player....

I don't see how many 10 per over games England are going to give Dernbach before they realise he is crap??

Totally agree his averages in T20 ODI are the worst of any player currently playing with that many matches. I don't go to 20 over games as I think its cricket for under10's or Americans, but went to games in Barbados as was on holiday, I reckon half the "England fans" at these games have never seen a real cricket match in their life and know f.a. about the game.

Being from Essex I think T20 is a needed evil for revenue on the county scene and does bring a break from what can be a boring programme of cricket. The problem is there is a line starting to be crossed at International level where the best are not playing Test Cricket to prolong their T20 careers

I agree that some players will want to chase the money but looking at the England squad I can't see more than 3/4 having a sustained Test career, Broad, Bell, Bopara & Stokes. The problem I see is that young players will not learn and develop their techniques.
