The all new Striker thread..

Personally I'd be after berahino and Austin

Relatively proven in this league and play with enough pace and energy

Both with a point to prove so will push Kane further and both would link up with Kane nicely

Llorente rather than Benteke for me

at least with Llorente we might profit from Trippier's supposed 100 crosses every game

Because Benteke is worth only a couple million over 15m.. And because he will sulk if not starting. Disaster darling disaster!

Agree, Austin IMO wouldn't cause a stink if not starting and Behrahino offers something different.

I'd love Austin at the club. There's quite a few strikers at the moment that we could go for. It's just choosing the right one obviously.

Austin and Berainho would be good and affordable I think. You're looking at what the price of Benteke for the both of them id imagine.

We could get Austin in for what we sell soldado for and its a like for like except one has scored goals in Thai league for a brick team

Berahino will be upwards of £15m but can play wide too with plenty of pace and a point to prove

He reminds me of Defoe who despite his weaknesses is still one of our top scorers ever

And so underated by many of our fans.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but if Villa are interested in Townsend and we would like Benteke then why don't we offer £20m and Townsend?

Sounds too simple to me.

if we're selling Townsend that money will go to our budget, if we give Townsend to Villa not only do we miss out on 10-15m we also have to find 20m 'cash' to give them as well for Benteke - doesn't add up imv

re Austin - to me for the money being spoke about it would be a no brainer, guy has scored goals at every level he has played, it'spretty similar to when we were originally in for Benteke after his first PL season except with Austin he's available for a reasonable price

we wouldnt go for both, no way....Kane is the main man, we will go for one main back up/partner and then maybe a cheap young striker

too simple but both Benteke's people and Townsend's people will most likely insist on separate deals to up their commissions. So we would have to pay 32 mill for Benteke and at the same time sell Townsend for 15 mill

Berahino can play off the left and has done to good effect with Kane as the CF for the U21s (as someone here has mentioned before) would give us options. could even play Berahino off the left, Austin as CF and Kane behind - and that's with sticking to the managers favored style (not as first choice but would give us variety)

So we end up paying 17 mill for Benteke and getting rid of Townsend at the same time? works for me.

agreed, Andros has his faults but there is no way Benteke is worth 20m more than Townsend, 5m more at most imo

Berahino can play wide and comes in a lot on the left like Defoe used too

Him and Kane had a really good partnership for England under 21s too

Austin would be happy playing seasons fiddle as he wools recognise the step up and also he would still get plenty of game time

We would very soon have 3 of England's main strikers IMO

Austin has a dodgy shoulder, like Demba Ba has a dodgy knee

i suppose out of the players linked its Austin v Llorente for the CF position

for me with Llorente the gamble is two fold, was last seasons poor goal return a one off or a sign of things to come and will he be able to adapt to the EPL. with Austin the gamble would be on whether last season was a fluke

for the 3rd forward position it could be Rodriguez v Berahino - able to play both as a CF and from the wide positions. Rodriguez has the injury issue and Berahino atm is all potential and yet to show any real quality form for his club on a consistent basis (afaik)

I think we all forget though that between Liverpool, West Ham, ourselves and other clubs, whilst we think Tottenham is the right choice for a player, they don't necessarily always think that. We are biased. Austin might think Leicester or Palace would be better for him than Tottenham....

Didn't Berahino score 18 goals last season!!! He is only in his second season for an ok side and that's a pretty tidy return
