The all new Striker thread..

It just seems to me that the papers have added 2 + 2 and got 10. It's not clear why Berahino is changing agents but somehow they assume it's due to the bad rep the Sterling saga is causing his agent.
Seems a jump in logic to me, especially when you think of it that through al the blah blah, Sterling's agent is possibly going to get him a deal way above his current status. If anything, you'd think Berahino would want his interests looked after in a similar (if ultimately kid of vulgar) way...

Papers making storys up, you must be joking ;)

or Liverpool have privately told Berahino to dump Ward in order to secure a move to Anfield.

Or he's respectful of his agent knowing he's contracted with them till November so doesn't want to risk trouble and just get on with things. Not everyone has to make a big song and dance about things, particularly someone who is probably trying to change his image around a little.

Cannot believe we might be signing Llorente. Really fcuking not happy. Might as well sign a donkey and play with 10 fcuking men. Anti football is back. Qunts. Fcuking Qunts. Not a happy bunny at all.

Yay.. we may sign the Spanish Zigic. :mad:

i think so many people will be disappointed if we sign him but in a weird way that might be a good thing. Reduced expectations, less pressure, he might surprise us

cant see that we are interested though. Too old, big wages

I really really really really hope its agent whoring.

I'm quite underwhelmed by the stories suggesting we will sign Llorente;
Only thing is, apart from Austin (also underwhelming), who can we sign then?

Right now we don't have a second #9. Ade is MIA and Soldado seems almost incapable of scoring, let alone playing as a lone front man. We can't bring in a top draw #9 in their prime because we already have one and a young aspiring striker isn't going to see us as a good step because Kane is young and likely to be first choice for many a year. That leaves us with the option of going for a player in the "twilight of their career". A player who has been around the block, can still offer something but won't throw a hissy fit about being second choice to Kane. Drogba was that player for Chelsea whilst Lambert was supposedly that man for Liverpool. Llorente could be that man for us although the rumoured asking price of £10 million is a bit steep for my liking, it may be our only choice.

Martial was our first choice as he would've have been able to rotate through both the LWF and #9 positions with Chadli and Kane. I guess our options are limited and we can only find someone that can cover the one position though perhaps someone like Berahino could still be on the cards (able to play in 2 positions).

Its not his scoring prowess that bothers me, its the fact he is a launch it forward win it and hope to get the knock down ala John Fashanu, Mick Hartford all those years ago. No thankyou. I want sexy sex wee football. Ask yourselves why would Juventus want to sell?.

Do not rate the guy at all, he has the first touch of a elephant ( worse then Crouch and that is saying something).

Fcuk no. What is the point in spending all that time and money setting up the scouting netwotk we have and them have Llorente as the only option? Nu fcuking way. He is not the answer when you consider our aims. Imagine Kane pulls a hamstring, Llorente is not the answer
