Which player would you like to see take over from Luka Modric?

AVB clearly want our midfielders to be athletic, with both Jenas and Livermore playing a lot so far.
M'Vila interest wouldnt surprise me. There's more to M'Vila than just defensive play,
he' often put into the limited dm category as most big and black midfielders are, but M'Vila is much more of an all rounder and a complete midfielder.
There are defensive midfielders who do that role better than him, and obviously playmakers that do better than him in that field,
but there arent many who combine the two roles as good as M'Vila.

I haven't seen a great deal of M'Vila, but what I have seen I don't understand the hype and wouldn't say he's an all rounder. I think his game is more limited than Parkers. For me Lass Diarra is a far better player. He's a genuine all rounder who gets put in a limited DM category. But Lass is fast as hell, a good passer and nearly as good as Dembele when it comes to dribbling in midfield. Lass is just better at everything the M'Vila from what I've seen and it much more athletic. Him and Sandro would make us very hard to break down, plus Lass would add a bit of spark with his forward runs on the ball. I also really like Capoue. I'd be pleased with any one of Lass, Capoue or Dembele, but from what I've seen of M'Vila he reminds me a bit of Livermore, which is okay, but nothing special.

I say again - don't think their valuation of the player is 47m - I do however believe their valuation is considerably more than what we have (supposedly) offered, hence the buy-out clause reminder. They don't need to sell, so they can dictate the price unfortunately.

Confirmation then that you are indeed arguing you agree with me

Aguero updated his buy-out when he re-signed a new deal.

I suspected as much. So they had a player who had a contract running down and they wanted him to sign a new deal. At which point, realising his stock is increasing he has some power in this equation (at least more so that when he signed the prior contract.)

He agrees to sign on, but on the basis the buy out it actually achievable for the top clubs. Madrid guarantee a good sum and a quality player remaining on the books for the short term, Aguero guarantees that if he plays well enough to attract a big club he can actually achieve the move.

Rodwell? Wtf. He was lucky to be playing for Everton!!

Honestly a little shocked at this one.

There was a great deal of hype around Rodwell, but Ive honestly never understood what all the fuss is about.

Even now its not clear to me what his best position is, and I would have thought that should be settled. Especially at a club like Everton where they cannot afford to waste any kind of asset.

So City buy him, no doubt for a lot of money, and all I can think is "Why?"

The buy-out is only legally 'binding' for Spanish clubs, iirc - more of a reference to others, etc. (except for the 100m+ ones)

My initial point was countering the tweets who suggested we've signed him - something which is a long way off, imv unless we cough up and judging by past precedent - this one is 'against' us

Who knows? Will find out soon enough I guess.

Damiao?

Probably around 22-25 at best. 20m with massive add-ons at least.

He still has 4 years left on his current deal and appeared to improve consistently over the last 4 years indicating an appreciating asset

Forget Damiao and other "big names". Frankly they are out of our league at present in terms of what we can offer - transfer fee, wages, CL, new stadium etc.

As I keep saying, we reluctantly now have to fish in the bargain basement pool of strikers. We just have to accept that we cant compete with the big boys in these stakes.

We have to look at unpolished " bargains" not established superstars. Sad but true I am afraid.

What exactly is rude about my post - please point it our and I will gladly retract my comment and apologise?

Do I have to accept what posters say they think eventhough some of the suggestions are considerably off the mark?

GHod you're starting to get boring! Give it a fudging rest mate...

But the ITKs promised this summer would deliver the most exciting transfer window ever. A combination of middle east investment and Joe Lewis desire to 'play with the big boys' would see world class stars fighting each other to play at the Lane.

This. And not necessarily so sad. Look what Saudi Sportswashing Machine did last year. Surely, there are those kind of strikers around, I just don't know where - but our scouts should know. :)
