Serious question: would we want Kaka? Can he really play CM in the PL in the same way that Modric can? I think not.

Possible line-up?

---------------Ade---------

-Bale--------Kaka-----------VdV

---Sandro/Parker-------Thudd-------

---------Back 4 & keeper-----------

So are we buying a keeper or not?

I am guessing Gomes might get a chance in goal tonight since Carlo played against LA Galaxy and Friedel played against Lpool. I know AVB has said he's not interested, but maybe he'll take the time after preseasons to assess that.

I wouldn't want him, but it's a mute point as we're not signing him. Will probably go to Milan or back to Brazil.

Freeki on SC:

Hey all. Just a few bits of info I've heard today from a couple of sources I know personally - have verified both with A&C.

Nothing too ground breaking but it's a slow news week so hoping some bits might be of interest!

Zeki Fryers to Spurs has been completed for a while, not sure why it isn't on OS but in my source's words "Sir Alex was taking the tinkle" offering him £1900 per week. Daniel offered £10k so it was a no brainer. 18 months ago he thought the guy was gonna get released but came in to his own last season and reckons he's gonna be big news.

He also said similar to others about Adebayor - fee agreed, terms agreed with Spurs, sticking point is negotiating a leaving package with City. As far as Ade's concerned, if City want rid that badly they should honour what's left of his contract in the form of a donation to his charity.

(non-THFC) Edin Dzeko back in training with MCFC and doesn't look like he's off anywhere which would suggest Ade is definitely going. He doesn't think SAF is interested in Van Persie, more trying to make a tit out of City. Doesn't think SAF would pay upwards of £220k for a 29-yr-old.

(different source) Berbatov's attitude is getting United squad down, definitely off but doesn't know where to but said Spurs definitely not looking to take him back. He reluctantly went on tour with them but didn't want to be there. Doesn't seem to be too popular among the squad or staff (surprise surprise).

As I said nothing earth-shattering there but hope some is of interest )

The Journalist:

Lloris; there was a meeting last week as I said.
No deal done yet obviously and I don’t know what went down at the meeting.
But I’m told of 3 deals Lyon have already in place that will be done with the LLoris money.

I for one don't see the point in Lloris. Friedel was outstanding last year and we need to use all of our budget to bring in strikers imo. Worry about GK next season

I do see a point, as two of our three keepers are ancient and the other has gulf war syndrome, but it's certainly not a priority.

But another way of looking at it is Lloris may not be available next summer and keepers of his class do not come on the market very often, so we may take the hit for a year and try and push Carlo out somewhere. I wouldn't be disappointed to see him arrive one way or another.

I always thought that transfer budgets are just for newspapers. I'm guessing we don't need 60mil or whatever sitting in the bank as transfers are often paid in instalments/addons/etc. My guess is our frugality in recent transfer windows has primarily been down to the NDP land buying and training ground expense using up the spare dosh. I'm not too sure what the exact figure is but these capital projects are 120mil+ which is not available for other purposes. I think if the right player is available Levy will spend big, and by the right player I mean that ticks all the Levy boxes as well as the AVB boxes.

Diario Sur [a top Spanish newspaper] has reported that Arsenal have agreed a €20m fee with Málaga.

Our Chairman, Daniel Levy, will soon ring the Closing Bell at the New York Stock Exchange. Look out for story, photo soon...

How many more signings do you think we'll make? I'm thinking three - CM, winger/wide forward and a striker. In a perfect window I'd want a keeper and another striker(replacing Defoe) as well.

A second #9 is far more important than a wide forward IMO.

One injury to Ade and we'd be totally screwed, whereas Rafa, Bale, Lennon, Gio, Townsend, Sig, even Bentley can all play wide.

I almost don't care if they are as crap as Saha, we need some cover for Ade.
