I read your question and my first thought was "Jesus".

No the issue is terminology.

Your terminology is that a goalkeeper should do everything.

Other people think a 'sweeper keeper' is a keeper who should be better at certain attributes to have a desired affect upon the game. (i.e, playing the ball out instead of just hoofing it and losing posession, etc)

Not all goalkeepers are good at all aspects of the game.

Edit: therefore 'we desire' a keeper who has the attributes that have been given to the term 'sweeper keeper'. It's the same as saying you want a midfielder, and somebody else wanting a deep lying playmaker.

Granada striker Matej Vydra will be joining Watford.

On a completely unrelated note, these two clubs have the same owner.

But it will be priority sooner rather than later so what is the problem with replacing him with arguably a world class keeper now?

Brad was on Talkbrick thios morning, superb interview.

Said he didn't care if he was 1st or 3rd choicem he was a paid professional and he would do his utmost. Also said that when he came in he was told we would be signing a long term replacement and we would be stupid if we didn't!!

Almost brought a tear to my eye!!

Steve Bateman @steviebateman

For #QPR fans: Hoillett is likely to cost up to £5 million in compo, plus wages of £50k per week. #Saudi Sportswashing Machine not prepared to pay that

I hope he doesn't come here - we can spend those wages on someone much, much better (by adding a little to it) - and one who would improve our first 11 not offer competition for David Bentley.

***West Ham, Sunderland, Ajax, Fulham & QPR have contacted Chelsea regarding Yossi Benayoun

News coming from Lille that Mathieu Debuchy could be signing a one-year extension of his current contract.

And you lot aren't worried about the PSG owners maybe taking a 25% stake in us??? We'd end up their feeder club?

No, why would anyone be worried about this? It isn't the case at ALL. They own 75% of PSG and 100% of Malaga, is either the feeder club of the other? They are owned by separate entities. If there was any investment it wouldn't be tied in to PSG or Malaga at all.

Ridiculous.

Daniel, you know that to do

I actually think he could thrive with us - all about the right context, imv

In my opinion he won't work. For teams that want a target man to hold the the ball up then great. For teams the use pace and movement he'll struggle to be effective.

Can you imagine Carroll keeping up with Bale or Lennon to get on the end of their crosses?

If he was mobile with pace then yes I could see him working, but he's neither of those.
