Which player would you like to see take over from Luka Modric?

If they're getting him to replace kaka they'll be sorely disappointed! Alonso replacement maybe but don't see him going anywhere, I'd be asking for him in exchange if any deal was to be done.

Seems Modric is a very mis understood player, not surprising really when some of our own fans still go on about lack of goals/assists.

Completely agree.

Modric playing in a more advanced role might work at Madrid though. Just because he plays in a deeper role for us doesn't mean he couldn't excel further up the pitch for somebody else.....

The Marseille said this morning for the first time that the door is open for Remy to leave is the right offer comes in. He has also added that so far Tottenham have not contacted them. He has also hinted that the game tonight between Chelsea and Bayern could make the difference in the players choice...

Honestly I just dont rate him

Can understand why you wouldn't but I think you would if you saw him getting consistent game time. He looked exceptionally talented at Boro, but has only occassionally shown glimpses at City. But you need consistent game time to demonstrate your true worth and he never was going to get that at City. That being said not sure he'd get that at Spurs either, but could push Lennon and would certainly get more games than he does currently, but probably not an automatic starter for us.....

He could certainly do a job further forward, but his best position is deep CM. Ozil, for example, is a much better player in the Kaka role.

Hang on hang on - are people really contemplating Owen?

And are you guys the same people who wanted Harry out cos he got on loan for six months the likes of Saha (just to fill in a gap?)

wow

I would take gordon I think he is ok and was surprised Sunderland didnt play him as much.

Liverpool have approached former manager Rafael Benitez after Brendan Rodgers rejected the chance to talk with the Anfield club about their managerial vacancy.

Love this.

Agree. Owen is a money-grabbing mercenary and not really the style of CF we need. He's also very similar to Defoe so see no point signing a 32 year old who will want 100k per week just to sit on the bench; may as well just keep Defoe as a bench-warmer - he's cheaper in terms of wages and settled and 2-3 years younger

Also agree re Gordon. Sell Gomes, release Carlo, sign Gordon and also get another keeper in

what makes you think the two ways of thinking are linked ?

wouldn't touch Owen with a barge pole

i like the rumour about us leading the way for butland and redmond from brum, don't know much about butland but redmond really excites me.

I've heard we are enquiring about Redmond too, with the possibility of Townsend being included in any sort of deal

Well Owen is an injury proned past it player who would no doubt be on a longer contract than someone like Saha who we only got for six months (and people on here used that against Harry e.g. wages are too high under him).

I wouldnt touch Michael Owen with yours let alone anything else.

Does anyone know enough about Butland to suggest that he has more potential than the other previously hyped up young keepers Scott Loach, Joe Lewis, Alex Smithies and many more we've been linked to over the years?

I heard somewhere that he has the potential to be better than Hart, although how reliable that is I don't know.
