I think if Chelsea pull off the Hazard deal, they'll finish outside the top four again or will definitely be fighting for fourth instead of the title.

How about Romeu? He's looked quite good.

Edit: note you were talking about wide positions above, but he's another midfielder to fit into the whole team. Seems very scatter gun.

Romeu did look quite good. However, if Malouda (who did feature a bit in the centre) leaves that would mean that they have Lampard, Essien, Meireles, Mikel and Romeu on their boks. Lampard is getting older, Essien hasn't been himself since the injuries and might not have long left at this level, Meireles is 29 and Mikel hasn't lived up to his potential. I suppose they also have McEchran, but he couldn't get into the Swansea side last season. That only leaves Ramires as a long term option that is proven to be good enough imo.

They have had a fairly small and aging squad for some time now, I understand fully that they are looking to buy quite a few players.

When does Romeu return to Barcelona?

Chelsea did buy him, but Barca have a buy back clause. Considering the options Barca have in midfield and seeing as Romeu hasn't made himself a permanent part of the Chelsea side I can't see them bringing him back all that soon.

Seems rather silly to spend that much on one player when they have a whole squad that needs some refreshing. I REALLY hope FFP is followed through.

Swansea interested dos santos, rodgers flew over to new york to see the wales/mexico game at the weekend...........

Also this is something I like about Rodgers way of managing. He plays a 433, he has Sinclair, Dyer and Routledge. He knows if two of the three get knackered/injured he is stuck - so he spies a player perfectly suited to his style of play, on nominal fee/loan who can do the job.

GDS will be like the GDS who plays for Mexico if given a run of games in a system that suits him.

i think we will finish 4th, and Chelsea will win the CL at Wembley

Chelsea aren't our major concern wrt Modric - Manyoo are.

Scholes and Giggs are signed up for another year, Fletcher could be back, hopefully they'll get Kagawa and Anderson is still there somewhere.

I don't think Ferguson would pay the amount of money Levy would undoubtedly ask for Modric. Chelsea might, and City might if Mancini realizes that Modric would fit their line-up perfectly.

De Jong is being linked away and both Hargreaves and Pizarro are gone. Running ridiculously low on defensive midfielders.

Chelsea won't want him. It was AVB that wanted him. I doubt Emirates Marketing Project want him, they don't need him. Man Utd could undoubtedly do with him but like braineclipse said, I doubt they'll pay the sort of money we have put above Modric's head. That sort of leaves Real Madrid or PSG etc. which I'd have no problem with if the money's right.

What makes you think that? DO you think he fail? Remember what you said last season about Aguero last summer he now has a championship winner's medal :)

i read Abramovich wants him as much as he wanted Torres

Fortunately I doubt other English clubs have not appreciated how good a player he is. Methinks it is because he has not had a long continuous run in the team

Rumours were that city bid 25m for Sandro last year, we also received a lot of interest from the continent.

However I agree people still dont realise just how good he is. Should turn out to be one of the best in the world in his position within 2/3 years providing he can keep injury free.
