Re: The 1060 pages and finally a striker summer transfer thread

Anyone predict this window would be like deja vu all over again? I didn't, I naively believed AVB meant Levy had a plan. Still we've had planty of bids rejected so at least we are trying...

Same here, the week of AVB, Sig and Vertonghen seriously clouded my judgement. I thought we were going to reel off Lloris, Moutinho, Oscar and Ade soon after

Didn't AVB say somewhere he was hoping to get business done asap in preseason? That soon changed. Makes me wonder what is going on, I for one don't simply buy the 'transfers are difficult' line because that is the same for everyone. He did say in press conference the other day that the chairman is in command of transfers, he is part of deicion-making but that Sherwood has his 'own role'.

Re: The 1060 pages and finally a striker summer transfer thread

It's fairly obvious isn't it? Leave Modric till as late as possible hence restricting possibilities of buying 'big players' to replace him i can almost guarantee we'll take more in than we will spend making Enic a nice tidy little profit. Slag me off all you want but it's what's happened last few windows and it'll happen again

We will know in a weeks time. I accept the argument we have major infrastructure projects and that wages should be factored into deals. But nevertheless we have taken in enough from sales, and will have the significant Modric funds to surely make some significant purchases. i hope I am wrong but this late means it is more likely we will be incredibly disappointed.

im not entirely sure here but don't both Levy & Lewis own other businesses that earn them a lot more money than what they would be making via THFC saving a bit on transfers ?

I thought it might be a case of hope for Diarra and Eto'o... end up with Frazier Campbell and Chimbonda.

Re: The 1060 pages and finally a striker summer transfer thread

Ok so i watched the 3 min youtube clip of willian and he's done more in those few seconds than townsend innhe's entire career. Wtf are you guys saying he's an expensive version of townsend on about?

Anyone watching Sky? Apparently Balague said we had bid rejected (surprise surprise) for Isco and that Modric deal is done but won't be sealed until we find a replacement. Can anyone confirm that is what he said?

Isco is brick.

Re: The 1060 pages and finally a striker summer transfer thread

Lol not my question but good to know. Never seen much of him myself.

Re: The 1060 pages and finally a striker summer transfer thread

No he isn't, stop being a tool.

I don't know what Balague said but apparently Jamie Redknapp said we had scouts at the Malaga game again last night.

Re: The 1060 pages and finally a striker summer transfer thread

Okay thanks for that. I saw Isco in the CL game midweek and thought he looked good but never seen him much before. Does it worry you were are scouting so late or think it is just part of the process?

Re: The 1060 pages and finally a striker summer transfer thread

I don't know how long he's been on our radar, my guess is he wasn't really until we learnt about Malaga's financial troubles so I don't see much wrong with going to see him live. I mean we still send people to watch Damiao even though we've been watching him for 18 months-2 years.

Ssouldn't we already have reports down for him in order for us to justify buying him as our best player's replacement (well, you'd assume so)? Yeah I saw Isco during midweek, looked to be very good on the ball with a good passing range. Actually looked a bit like Rat Boy in the manner in which he evades the opposition.

Re: The 1060 pages and finally a striker summer transfer thread

You lot in this thread have gone from Llorente and Higuain to being happy we're gonna waste 15m quid on a Brazilian Pienaar.

Re: The 1060 pages and finally a striker summer transfer thread

Isco is more of a winger / forward if he is Modric's replacement we are in trouble.

How much have you seen of him though?

If AVB wants him then I'm fine with it.

Re: The 1060 pages and finally a striker summer transfer thread

Seeing a lot of people saying we are willing to pay Dembeles release cause (15Mill) what do you folks think? worth it?

Re: The 1060 pages and finally a striker summer transfer thread

Ey? What you saying Then? That levy has been positive in the last few windows and has done his upmost to push us forward? I'm not a 'troll' as you put i'm just giving my genuine opinion suppose we'll see but even if levy does go out and spend 40mill doesn't change how many of the last few windows he's ruined
