***OMT TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Liverpool***

Really?

But once again. That was not what my post was about. But seeing as I have had to say it twice now, you clearly don't understand simple concepts and ideas.

My post was about there being plenty of options and formations, with the players we had available today.

It's not a hard concept to understand unless you are mentally departed.
You really are a charming fellow.

If you don't have the players to make a system work, then you have to change the system, because needs must. If you can;t do that, then you are a brick manager and need to find a team more your level.

And there are plent of formations and approaches we could have made today with those players available.

So you can get snarky with people again?

Here's a 4-5-1 that you asked for earlier. And Porro playing RB is a new position for him, he played as a RWB in back 5 at Sporting Lisbon, and was very attacking minded. Hence why I think he would make a good RW. So when you said earlier out of position, what exactly are talking about?

Solanke

Werner - Maddison - Gray - Sarr - Porro

Reg - Dorrington - Dragusin - Djed.

How about a 4-4-2

Solanke - Lankshear

Son - Maddison - Gray - Porro

Reg - Dorrington - Dragusin - Djed

I'll ignore the first bit of your reply as it doesn't actually address anything I was mentioning, so your view.

'Snarky with people'? Mate, after the tones and language you've used in the past, that is rich sauce LOL.

Porro played that position at Porto. We are Tottenham. We play a different way and he has been coached in a different sense. He has NEVER been a super solid defender. And square-pegging him to right wing because he is a good attacking FB/WB is great on paper but doesnt actually bear close scrutiny unless you spend time coaching it.

Your team selections? Sorry, each side would get smashed, especially would've today IMO.
But all sniping exchanges aside, at least you've put forward some ideas and are willing to discuss them.

Anyone have any thoughts on @SkipRat 's teams above?

Porro was never a RB at Sporting Lisbon. He was a RWB, in a back 5 and was attacking minded, IIRC.

In one of the first interviews with players after Ange's arrival, Porro was saying it was hard work and difficult to play his new position of RB (also think it was Ange's style RB too), but he enjoyed the challenge. I don't know how so many people have forgotten this or didn't know about this.

I honestly believe is better off doing Bale, moving forward to the RW and dropping Johnson. Porro creates, scores, but does an awful lot more than Johnson... He will get stuck in and defend. And having both Djed and Porro being able to defend and attack on the right, it will cause chaos for the opposition, and if Djed is up top and loses the ball, Porro will just slip back into his RB role and know what is expected.

One of the single biggest questions was how Porro could fit into Ange's system precisely because of what you said here. We knew this about him, He is not a defensively-minded player. The key to his position with us is how he is covered when he takes up his advanced inverted role, and the problem is that right now, we have a tired group of players who are unable to cover adequetly (Sarr, Biss were out of gas today, and with Pedro himself being flogged, it's tough). You say 'Porro could just slip back into his RB role' when the main issue is he is in the red zone and, frankly, I think we're lucky we haven't lost him to injury.

Again, we arrive at the question of who Ange could play instead. IF Udogie had been fit today, he could've given Spence and Porro time between them/given them some rest. Of the other options available, yes, you could bring Dorrington in and push Gray to RB, but given Dorrington and Dragu's lack of pace, it's less of a risk to play Archie at CB right now. I think both Dorrington and Phillips are decent players but are not quite right for this system/level (my opinion of course, others will have theirs)...

It's never nice to concede 6 goals at home but I think the players did well to score two goals at 5-1. Quite frankly, this game hasn't moved the needle one bit for me. The problem isn't the tactics per se, it's the number of injuries. If anything, Postecoglou has managed the current crisis pretty well. We won the match against ManUre, which was probably the most important of the two fixtures, and we won against Southampton to stay clear of the relegation zone.

As far as I'm concerned, the only question that matters is who is responsible for the high number of injuries. If it's the medical team, then we need a change. If it's the manager... In truth, it's probably a mixture of both but if they can't sort it out, we will never be able to move forward. You can't afford to throw away a couple of months each season and say it's just 'bad luck'.

Today's loss is the other side of the coin: we play some great stuff but every now and then, when you take chances, you're going to get well beaten. It wouldn't matter as much if we had done our job against Ipswich and Crystal Palace.

Deki was available and you did not choose him, despite him having had a little time off in the last month and so probably not as over-played as some.

Do you REALLY have to throw the insults around?

You really are a charming fellow.

I’ve had him on ignore for weeks now. Makes this place much more pleasant. Can thoroughly recommend doing it!

He's really taken a dark turn hasn't he? At one point severaln years ago I thought he might be a shining light, instead he got lost and is now on brick street...

Tbh, I thought it was a good piece. Many of the lines struck me as true, although not things we as Spurs fans really want to read.

Give it up.
Either that or you should pray he gets sacked and we go back into a 'short term gain long term pain' cycle again, because he is not going to change his ways and you're doing your own nut in (and mine a tiny bit if I'm truthful LOL)...

you keep replying to me :p

if he doesn't change he's getting sacked, because his ways wont work in the PL

lol - I think it depends whether you put Ange in the middle or the club in the middle.

As you know, I don't want Ange removed, but I still keep the picture in my head that the direction of travel is what is important. If we change the driver, then the rest is still intact as long as the new driver wants to play front foot, progressive football. This squad is ready made for that man, and we can get back to where we are now in a very short cycle and then keep going beyond.

I don't fear manager change as much as some actually. Still don't want him removed yet. I'd like to see him be a little more adaptive though.

Increasingly, I think the tactics are absolutely the problem. If they’re not, why have we getting such a poor average points return for a year now? And I have no doubt that the tactics lead to many of the injuries.

End of the day it is what is mate.

Personally I'd back Ange over Levy.

I love the ethos. Guy just needs to be backed. Bissoama is just awful. Sarr has it but maybe not in our system. Kulu is good. But maybe shouldn't be our key lynch pin. Son is running on vapours. We have needed a refresh for a while. The chairman just hasn't a clue.

Greatest thing today was the fans. Then the players that never gave up for the manager.

Until Levy goes this is who we are. A banter club.

Edit. Sarr doesn't have it. He's a half decent mf for someone like Southampton.

Wish we had the Sarr from Palace.

We are scoring more goals than anyone. We have a brick defence though.

I think Anges tactics work. With the right defence we can do stuff.

Thought sky analysis on that goal was poor tbh.
It's not spence chasing the ball down that's the problem, that actually works because taa has to concede controlled possession, it's dragu the "experienced" cb missing the header that's the problem. He drops back, we tidy that up and are back on the attack.
Dragu misses the header because he's trying to cover across quickly for the space that Spence has left behind. If Spence had gone and a midfielder had taken up his position at the back then that allows us more control. With Ange's system the full backs leave big gaps behind that are not covered. We then find ourselves with a overload.

Pool conceding from playing out at the back should be discussed
That no way for a decent side to play

No offence but not sure what the point of comments like this are. We concede too many goals and we’re far too open but some just down want to see it or admit it. Sky had some pretty damning stats earlier, since December we’re dead last on goals conceded, shots against, shots faced on target, XG against and big chances faced. However you dress that up they are worrying stats. That is mainly IMO down to how Ange sets up the team but he refuses to do anything to change it. If he keeps this up then he won’t be here next season.

Crude goals analysis
First goal
Whole defence is in a line - brilliant cross and goal
Second goal - whole defence is in a line again… several errors including no one tracking the runner
Our first goal - high press from us and great finish
Their third goal - died presses very high after son presses central. Hopeful pass from TAA. Drago comes for the header when Bissouma could have potentially got to the man and is left in no man’s land. Good play from them but several poor decisions from us
4th goal - Kulu doesn’t use his feet quick enough to pass to the unmarked Porro… fudged now. Some great blocks from gray too
5th goal - opened like a sieve form Porros side
Our 2nd -brilliant defending initially by soence and great intricate passing by Dom and Kulu
Our 3rd - high cross and the aerial demon that is Johnson wins it for Solanke tos core
Their 6th - Porto loses it with a weak pass and they pass through us switching sides easily
