Strangely, I think Davies and Foyth's style of pass-and-move attacking might work out well. Here's hoping...
Got to say that the second half has given me hope for the away match. Ajax are good, but they're tiring. They may seem pacey and tricky against an aging Juventus and Bayern, but are clearly not used to playing against the tempo even a decimated Spurs holds over 90 minutes. Which makes me doubly sad, as I believe a full strength Spurs probably would see this Ajax side off pretty comfortably. That said, they're playing proper football, and I would be very happy to see them as winners if they advance past us.

Fatally stupid and disorganised defending in the early stages of an important game; lack of composure in crucial moments in the final third; yet more injuries piled on a squad with grossly insufficient quality to cover. About par for this team.

Catch a grip, mate. We’re down to the bare bones yet we’re still in it. I think we’ll go to Amsterdam believing we can beat them with Son in the team.

Eriksen and Dele didn’t show up, which was disappointing.

@milo Sissoko
They had by far the cleaner chances - hit the inside of the post. We were toothless bar a few headed openings.
So bar the two scorable headers we didn't have clear chances then? OK. Keen analysis. Care to supplement by mention all their cleaner chances apart from hitting the post(which was lucky for us)?

Dele in midfield has to stop. One can't help but regret Spurs missing key players. Dembele was built for this game.

PS Our full backs need to learn how to cross. Horrible crosses.

Have to agree. He has looked terrible in that position.

I would play son up front in the second leg with dele and Moura around him.

Haven’t seen 3 at the back really work for us all season. Poch always has to change it. Cost us. Anyway Sissoko from the start and Son back next week.

With Sissoko and Son, maybe even Winks, we're very much in the game. Especially as Ajax have their cup final to play.

Much better second half, though Ajax had the best chance.

Can only hope we've learned something from this for the second leg. At our best we can definitely hurt them, with Son and Sissoko back I remain somewhat optimistic, but I fear that we'll end up regretting that first half performances.

Several sub par performances today. Not the time or place to get into it right now, but there are some issues and headaches for Pochettino going into the summer.

Ah well, I'll say it... start Foyth at right back in the return leg.

Another thing noticeable tonight, even when we break we don’t have the confidence to take a man on, a few times we were in single coverage and slowed/stopped to wait for support.

We were absolute sh1t, all we had was hoof to Llorente and their keeper barely had a save to make. Not one player can honestly say they had a good game for us.**

At least in the 2nd half, we made a scrap of the game, but still very lucky not to go 0-2 down when they hit the post. They saw out the game for the 0-1 win.

We might yet do something in the away game, but we're going to have to play so much better. Son for Llorente, press from the front. We're only 1 down, maybe we can get the first goal early and make them sh1t the bed.

**edit -- Sissoko had a decent game.

But also probably expected.
