**Official Other Games Thread, Season 2012/13**

Re: **Official Other Teams & Games Thread, Season 2012/13**

A midtable side is about Remy's level so I think he'll do well at Saudi Sportswashing Machine. If he's got any brains he will have a relegation release clause written into his contract.

The "united would be mid table without RVP" argument is gonads. You really think if they substituted him for another striker they would get 0 goals? When have united ever been mid table

Indeed by the "united would be mid table without RVP" logic they'd be bottom of the table without De Gea.

How well would Arsenal have done last season without RVP?
What other player could United have signed that would have been the top EPL goalscorer so far and have as many assists as RVP? Do United have a comparable player on their books who could equal or better him?
I will be interested in your reply.
IMO RVP won yet another game for United yesterday.

Why would they have had to sign another?

If they hadn't bought RVP it would have been more game time for other strikers and with that they would have more goals.

It's pretty simple really.

In my mind the Motm yesterday in the United game was not RVP anyway. It was Evra. He played a stunning cross for the first and bascially scored the second.

I agree they wouldn't have won without him yesterday, but to say they would be midtable is OTT. They only lost the title on goal difference last season without RVP.

But ManU were leading the league table with about 8 points lead going into the last few matches of last season, yet they lost out.
And the fact we won at ManU for the first time since 1989 shows their lack of quality this season. RVP was shyte in that match and it shows how they will struggle when he is not on form.

Mind you only WBA have conceded more goals than ManU among the top 11 teams in the league. Even Stoke and Swansea have conceded less than them. Their defence is shyte this season. Without RVP's goals, they will drop down to mid table.

Re: **Official Other Teams & Games Thread, Season 2012/13**

Without RVP, Utd would be near the top, and nowhere near mid-table. But more importantly to me Arsenal would be nearer to us than they are now. IMHO

Re: **Official Other Teams & Games Thread, Season 2012/13**

To think saying "Where would United be without RVP" is some sort of meaningful comment is fairly stupid to me. It doesn't really make sense however you look at it.

As said above, take away De Gea and they'd definitely be bottom of the league.

They probably would have won the league last season if they had RvP, they look favourites to win it this season with him.

Mid table without him? Are you having a laugh? How on earth have they gotten that much worse since last season?

Re: **Official Other Teams & Games Thread, Season 2012/13**

United is getting progressively worse each year, less creativity, less true WC players, weaker bench. How many United players (minus RVP/Rooney) would truly walk into Spur's squad?

I think it's a combination of SAF (and the very astute RVP buy) plus years of physiological dominance that has them where they are (teams don't expect to win, refs do United favours, etc.). The cracks are showing in Europe where teams have less respect, the lack of quality won't be compensated for by work rate and they won't get 9 mins of extra time when they need it.

While I don't think they would be mid table without RVP, I could easily see them in the mix with US and the Scum.

While they may be weaker I believe you are selling them short. They have arguably the best collection of forwards in the league. Maybe city fans would disagree but they are there or thereabouts. Their midfield pair of Carrick and Cleverly retain the ball superbly. I'll still take Carrick back in an instance. Then any two of Young, Valencia, Nani, Kagawa, even Giggs is collectively better than all but one or two midfields in the country. At the back I think they are bit ropey and De Gea is poor in my opinion.

Utd's trump card is their will to win. Even RVP commented on it in recent article.

The last line is so true. They never give up. Wish we had that mentality/desire/insert word here.

They are weak in centre midfield compared to their previous teams, but you have to think Fergie will address this eventually surely? Could see them going for Modric for example.

Big part of that is "winning is a habit", you don't get that by wishing it, trying to train it, etc. it's an expectation built on doing it.

Re your previous comments, there are obvious weaknesses in the side that weren't there previously. Totally agree re the front line (that's what carries them now). Wouldn't take back Carrick for free, still capable of the occasional good game, but has been poor in general for a couple of years, Giggs is over mate, the odd sub and highlight reel pass/move doesn't change that. Young imo (and I'll probably be slated for it) is brick, I didn't want him for us, all he can do is run, go wide, turn onto the inside and shoot, rinse and repeat (as a defender, make him stay wide and his delivery is poor). Rio/Vidic in their prime were monsters, both are far from that now, with age/injuries taking a toll.

Never count SAF out, but that side needs probably 6 new, class players (not just workhorses), as I said before, probably remain a threat in EPL, but you will see those players you named badly shown up in Europe.

Would argue that is not because they are getting worse, but because in recent years we have gotten better.

Re: **Official Other Teams & Games Thread, Season 2012/13**

He was good enough for 'Arry and your scouting network last season when he turned down a move to Spurs.

this season Remy was threatening to quit football altogether...is he mentally stable??
