James Maddison

Especially when you consider Wharton was coming back from injury and got cramp, Lerma went off injured early on, and that Albino chap with a nosebleed is just an angry terrier... how did we make them look so impenetrable?
Lack of composure and work Maddison and Kulu we’re none existant
They had the second best stats in the league for high turnovers and we gave them loads yesterday

I dont see why this is being made out to be a big deal, we have two players that on their day can be unplayable in the 10 position
Should be pushing each other to be better, which benefits us

Would have loved this option under Mopo
It's where we want to be. Maddison struggling a little for form perhaps, at that time Sarr comes into form. And enough flexibility in the team to play with either along with Kulusevski who is obviously really good now.

Maddison will bounce back.

Exact-fcking-ly

That's what we never had under Poch. If a team negated Eriksen that was us done. We had no other way to play or outlet.

I see no problem with picking specific players for specific matches. Having some depth and real competition is what is going to keep the players on their toes and besides no player can play to their best every game so sometimes it's just gonna work with the main option and then that's where the alternative is vital.

We did. Dele and eriksen. Decided to shove eriksen wide though.

i think the question is if maddison wants to stay if he is going to be spend large chunks of time on the bench

If maddison wants to spend large chunks of the game on the pitch he has to justify it. Also where's he going to go? He's on big wages that nobody but the biggest teams in europe will pay.

I think it's more horses for courses and doing more rotation on players. There will be games where we start both Maddison and Deki, but for harder games it's choose one and Deki is the form player at the moment.

I fully expect Maddison will start in midweek Europe game.

Ofcourse he's going to get plenty of game time. He's a good player. Just saying that it's up to him how much game time he gets.

He's a very good player. But he's not good enough to go to a similar level or higher club than us and be an automatic starter.

If he wants to move down a level or take a sideways step to be an automatic starter whatever happens that's fine.

I think it's more likely that he'll want to fight for his place.

Large chunks of time on the bench may be the outcome, if that's the outcome over time, sure. I can see him wanting a move. But that's far from a given. Injuries, suspensions, rotations and fluctuations in form will happen.

Maddison has been dropped for all of a week and we are already talking about him leaving :D

He is currently off his top form, Kulu is currently on his top form. But some are talking as if Kulu is the second coming, he is 24 years old and will have fluctuations in form too. We need Maddison as much as we ever did....
Fully agreed. We were probably 10-15 minutes without a goal against Villa away from Maddison being brought on, hopefully to change the game in our favour.

He will back himself (and rightly so)

Personally I think the rotation (his form over his career seems to be at least influenced by fitness) and competition will help him.

It's another show of how valuable Europe and Cup runs are, to keep players like Maddison, Dragusin, Spence (yes I know), Davies, Moore, Bergvall, Grey happier and close to match fit requires the extra games.
