James Maddison

Darren Anderton was a quality player. Was just his fitness that held him back half the time. I'll never forget him and Ginola in the cup tie against Leeds, think it would have been 1999? Anderton scored a worldy, Ginola scored a worldy and then almost scored one of the best goals of all time, dribbled past a tonne of players then hit both posts with his shot
The long range shooting completion
It felts like they were taking the tinkle every time

He was a vey good player for us [ underated by some fans sadly] mostly because of his injury problems. However he played over 350 games for us during his time here. He also turned down a move to Man Utd and enquires from victims as well.

I remember him quite well, very good player

Ginola too....

How Ginola at his best would have been insane under Ange... Attack, that is all you have to do.

I think I have a semi.

Back then, all I could was listen on the radio and I listened every week. I remember listening to the year we played Wimbledon 6 times and we got replays in both cups after drawing both first games.

I don't like maddison

He gets on my nerves, typical spurs player who hides when the going gets tough.
Yup, looks great when we are on top and he has time on the ball, but not much use in a battle. Much prefer to play Sarr who is not as good creatively but will fight and give better control of the midfield. To me Sarr could become our most important midfielder while Maddison becomes more of a luxury and possible backup to Kulu.

He is better than that but he ain’t the kind of player to create his own platform to play off on the pitch

I love Sarr, dislike Maddison.

Ange really needs to figure out his 3 in the middle. Kulu and Maddison doesn't feel right long term and seems like he is trying to shoe horn Maddison in there or play him into form etc. We need Sarr for his athleticism and energy or Bentancur for a bit more 'all-roundness'. Right now it feels difficult for us to dominate the midfield battle with Maddison just floating about in there

Was just saying the same to my mates
He needs his 6,8,10 balance better
Against some teams, and at home, we can get away with 2 10s
But when playing teams who are fighters (palace and West Ham would fall into that) you need at least 2 players who can do the most physical things first

I feel for Anderton as injuries ruined his career. He was a fantastic player, who if he remained fit, could have become one of Englands greats. Maybe not legendary, but certainly great.
I thought at the time that Anderton was pretty similar to and every bit as good as Mcmanaman, who became a Galactico. A great player who arguably isn't legendary (unless in victims). To me at least, haven't heard his name mentioned in ages.

McManaman and Owen were considered disloyal by Dippers whilst Anderton was loyal to a fault and in hindsight he should’ve jumped ship to play for Ferguson’s all conquering side whilst he had the chance.

I don't think the balance is quite right no matter what. Sarr adds a lot of physicality to the mix and is a good player, but lacks creativity and press resistance. Bissouma is too hit and miss with his use of the ball.

Some of the answers will perhaps in time be Bergvall and Gray. But too early still it seems.

It is disappointing when we put out the midfield who should be our most press resistant, the most able to play through a press and they fail at that. We can afford to be second best physically in midfield if we're playing well enough with the ball. Against Palace we were way off that. All three of them.

Especially when you consider Wharton was coming back from injury and got cramp, Lerma went off injured early on, and that Albino chap with a nosebleed is just an angry terrier... how did we make them look so impenetrable?
