Hugo Lloris

Are you on the 'everyone rates him so i'm going to go against the grain' bandwagon again?

So, I'm wrong? You think Bentaleb is good enough right now to be starting for a team fighting for top four and should continue to do so?

I rate Bentaleb. If he continues, he'll be a great squad player for us, just like Townsend. It's great to see these guys come through the ranks and get first team football, it's a rarity.

Just like Lloris could be our keeper for the next ten years when we signed him. Unless we can offer regular cl just about every player is going to be tempted by clubs who can offer it.

But that's what we are.. a stepping stone.

We bought Lloris for £9,000,000 or whatever the fee was. We can make very good profit on top of that. We then get rid of him and bring in another goalkeeper who will use us a stepping stone (unless we get it right and achieve something), and we'll go on and sell them for profit too, in this case Jack Butland, the best British keeper since Banks.

hmmm, i see what you mean

how do you rate lucas, mikel, matic, garcia for instance? good enough for their respective teams?

mumorn has a point and quite frankly until wages go up and we have a new stadium this is what will be the norm

Lucas is very important to Liverpool and continues to be one of the most unappreciated, underrated footballers in the Premier League in my opinion.

Mikel can't be too bad if he has played over 300 games for Chelsea, I admire players like Lucas and Mikel though as I appreciate the role they have, they sit in front of the back four and can be niggly and dirty but are so important to their sides.

I like Matic and like what I saw of him at Benfica, especially in the European games I have seen him play against better opposition. I am not surprised a club like Chelsea signed him, although I suppose looking back, it was stupid of them to even get rid of him, he was very highly rated whilst he was there.

I don't really rate Garcia to be honest. I always thought it was a strange signing for Emirates Marketing Project at the time and I still have yet to see him play a good game for them. I suppose he is a good player to have in the squad though. A bit like Capoue for us where he can cover centre half, play as a mainly sitting midfielder or could probably even play a box-to-box type role.

if Lloris goes, then Begovic has to be the replacement. Has the experience, is top class, is ready to slot in.......Butland no thanks

LOL

yeah okay cool, i get you now

just so you know i am pretty paranoid ;)

i cant help it , after all the deviousness in football i see deceit everywhere

Glad you posted this mate...

No need to be crazy - we all support the same team and want the best. We all have opinions on what is the best and will sometimes be wrong.

Where does this idea that Butland is 'that' good come from? Why is he better than Shilton etc?

I know he's a good young keeper but, I'd like to know why the hype. And I hope this isn't a goalkeeper version of 'the next Pele/Zidane/Messi' etc

But you can rotate midfielders, you can give midfielders game time from the bench, you can easily give them a month off and bring in someone else if they have a drop in form. If Bentaleb turns out to not be good enough we play Sandro, Capoue, Dembele etc instead.

Will we have the same possibilities with Butland?

Based on what exactly?

One of the most important abilities for a keeper is to perform consistently over time under pressure at the highest level. We've seen Paul Robinson go from "England's number 1 and a super signing" to Championship football. We've seen Gomes go from arguably the best goalkeeper in the league in 09/10 to being third choice for us. Yet, you feel confident that Butland is not only top class, he is ready and experienced enough to be first choice for us. Based on what?

Well yes, because he is starting for a team fighting for the top 4 and winning games playing for that team....

what?????what has Butland done???

I think Butland is a greta prospect, but he is very young. The question is do we buy him and wait for him to come into form before watching him leave or buy someone more solid (Begovic) who will likely not leave. Maybe it's betetr we sign Begovic so then Butland becomes first choice at Stoke. Then in a 3 years time we can sign him

What the ****!

I'm off the forum for a day and all of a sudden Lloris is leaving and Steff says he hates Pearl Jam!

I'm off to ****ing bed.

That's like saying, where is the idea that Will Hughes is that good come from, or Ross Barkley (after a few games earlier in the season). When you watch someone with a talent, you just know. You can tell by watching a Barkley or a Hughes that they will be stars, by the movement, the way they move with the ball, the vision, the touch, and it's the same when watching keepers, you look at the confidence, the ability to catch crosses with ease, the distribution (which ****es all over Lloris'), We would be the perfect club for him if Lloris left. Man Utd have de Gea, Chelsea have Courtois, Liverpool have Mignolet now, Emirates Marketing Project have Hart. In fact, Arsenal may want to go for him, though with Szcezney having the best record this season in terms of cleansheets and goals conceded, Arsene might keep him around.

But if not, we can just go for ter Stegen instead who is better than both Lloris and Butland.
