General Transfer Rumour Discussion Thread

At the moment everyone in world football knows that Kaboul won't play for Spurs again. He's surplus to requirements and we will ultimately let him go on a free transfer rather than register him in the squad for next season and pay his wages. So on the face of it, Levy's valuation (somewhere between £5m and £10m depending on the paper you read) seems insane.

Except it's not insane when more than one team is in for the player. And even though Kaboul is theoretically worth nothing to us; he's clearly worth something to the clubs who are in for him - who will have to outbid one another to get their man. According to the media there are now at least two teams after his signature (Watford and Besiktas). Will one of them be willing to pay £5m to ensure they beat the other to Kaboul's signature? It's certainly not beyond the realm of possibility... so as an opening position in negotiations, Levy is spot-on with this.
Of course the spanner in the works here is likely to be Kaboul (or more pertinently his agent) who I'm sure know that he won't be in the 25 man Spurs squad next season. They know that as the transfer window pushes on we will become more and more desperate to get his wages off the books. They will also know that every penny going to Spurs as part of a transfer fee could instead end up in their pockets if the player goes on a free. Of course there is a slight risk that the clubs who want him will get impatient and instead sign somebody else, but when you're earning £40k a week, and unlikely to earn too much more elsewhere I think that is a gamble worth taking for the player/agent. Ergo there is clearly a sweetspot at which THFC, a buying club and Kaboul himself would find amicable... If that is anything more than about £2 million I would be very surprised indeed.

Surely anything for a player we don't want and probably has a residual alive of nothing is good.

£2m is £2m towards someone else

Ravel Morrison apparently homesick. Would take him, hopefully Lazio would be happy to deal. Helps with British contingent.

What has he done?

In early 2011, he received a 12-month referral order and was ordered to pay £1,445 in costs and compensation after admitting two counts of witness intimidation.[54][55] After an assault charge was dropped when Morrison's girlfriend refused to testify, he was convicted of criminal damage for throwing her mobile phone out of a window and advised to undergo domestic violence counselling.[56] In February 2012, Morrison was involved in controversy after posting a homophobicthreat on Twitter.[57] He was charged under FA rule E3, which governs use of abusive and/or insulting words including reference to a person's sexual orientation, and accepted his guilt.[58] He was fined £7,000.[59]

Morrison was remanded in custody on 31 July 2014 after being charged with two counts ofcommon assault against a former girlfriend and her mother.[60] He was freed on bail after three days in custody.[61] In August 2014 he appeared at Manchester Crown Court entering not-guilty pleas to two counts of assault, one of assault causing actual bodily harm and one count of harassment. A provisional trial date was set for 26 January 2015.[62] In November 2014 he was found not guilty of the harassment charge of threatening to throw acid in the face of his ex-girlfriend and have her killed after the Crown Prosecution Servicewithdrew the charge.[63] On 15 January 2015, Morrison was cleared of all charges of assaulting his ex-girlfriend and her mother.[64]

The reason Fergie got shot is that he was running with a gang in Wythenshawe who were a bad lot and Fergie had enough. That has come from the inside of the club.

I think that it was pretty widely reported at the time that Ferguson thought that he needed to get out of Manchester for his own good.

After signing for West Ham he went on loan to Birmingham, where they threatened to cancel it early because of his poor attitude in training. Also been on loan at QPR and Cardiff. He always impresses early on wherever he goes, then fades away. Cardiff terminated the loan early. West Ham released him once he had agreed to join Lazio.

He's lazy with poor discipline and a huge ego.

BFS: “It’s not that he has to impress me as a footballer, we know about his talent. It’s about playing the talent and himself to a disciplined life in general, is what needs to happen with Rav. If that happens we’d want him here.”

After signing Ravel Morrison we could re-sign Taraabt and try to snag Ben Arfa just for good measure. Really lacking in the poor attitude player category if we get all the outgoings we're all hoping for this summer.
