His initial approach is more than fair methinks...as he slips and Bale has done him, the studs go up but that's after the approach and challenge!

Though this should more be in appreciation of Bale's skill, but i'm usually focusing on the negative anyway.
The lad had a good game today, was very isolated out on his wing as the CM pair didn't have a clue, and Sig looked lost.

Said at the time that it should have been a card. Red might have been a touch harsh, but I don't think it would have been wrong.

Counter attacks are as much about game flow as about tactics. It's a reason we almost always look better after we take the lead. As long as teams can keep men back and keep us from counter attacking we get very few counter attacking opportunities.
I do think we can get better at taking our chances to attack on the break, but that's as much about player ability as tactics.

This shows again what happens when we attack with pace. Hopefully Holtby will be the player who can pick a pass when we're not on the counter.
gotta wonder when avb is going to incorporate some tactics that allows bale to be set free on the counter like this:

If we had a solid enough defence we could afford to sit back at 0-0 invite the opposition on to us and destroy them on the break.
Most people on here would hate it though.
