Djed Spence

Really happy with his contribution vs Coventry - looked up for it and wanting to prove a point.

One good thing with him not being in the Europa squad is that he actually might get some opportunities at LB/RB in the league games instead, as Udogie and/or Porro might feature in those games at times....

Well he definitely is not starting in the league
He will still be no more than backup to Udogie and Porro

Good game at man u.
I think he is good enough to start a game.
Given an away game to Manchester United the circumstances couldn't have been much better. But he came right in and did well, looked assured and looked like belongs. Good to see.

I agree he's good enough and ready to start a game, but not being registered for the EL and having Udogie ahead of him he may have to wait a bit for that start. It will come though.

Udogie seems to have injury problems and his performances for some time haven't been great, so it shouldn't be a given that he starts when Spence is showing some decent form there.....

So far it seemingly has been. Think Spence still has a bit to prove before he gets a start for other reasons than injuries and rotation.

We are delighted to announce that Djed Spence has signed a new contract with the Club, which will run until 2028.
Having joined the Club in July, 2022, from Middlesbrough, Djed has made 10 appearances in our colours to date and registered his first competitive goal for us last month in our victory against Coventry City in the Carabao Cup.
The 24-year-old has previously spent time on loan with Stade Rennais, Leeds United and most recently with Serie A side Genoa for the second half of the 2023/24 campaign.
On the international stage, Djed has featured for England at Under-21 level on six occasions after making his debut for the Young Lions in March, 2022.
