Daniel Levy - Chairman

Seems @metalgear and @glorygloryeze have such high expectations, they will never be satisfied.
Even if we had Liverpool's squad they would be fuming that Nunez can't hit a barn door and Jota is injured and Salah is ageing fast.
Woe is me.

Nah, just expectations of improvement and ways of working from a football perspective.

Such things that befit a club which has increased its revenue streams AND has more loftier football ambitions than what they used to have before when the stadium and the associated revenue streams were smaller

I don't know, but what I have seen of him for both Plymouth and Stoke, he has been pretty damn fine.

In fact IIRC, Plymouth fans were saying he was the reason they stayed up.

And I have not seen him put a foot wrong.

I just don't get it. Any decent manager maximises the use of the squad he has at hand. I don't get Ange's snub of players in key positions. Like Djed, Reg, Philips, Veliz...

I want to know what Levy is injecting our manager's with lol!

I think Veliz has been unlucky for sure. I like Phillips but I also really liked Dorrington pre-injury. The Spence thing is just weird. Reggie must be about off-field as much as anything?

No idea.

But he can certainly give udogie a rest, maybe even a bit of competition... even if it's only for the rest of the year until we get an up upgrade to Udogie...

Get more money for a player who has been playing, rather than left to rot.

I think it's easy to focus on the players and not our club. Perhaps it's the case that the club told Reggie to head out on loan for a year to get his mojo back after a year of hellish injuries. He did that and performed well for both Utd and Brentford and came back only to be treated like crap when he returned.

It reminds me of a passage in Lloris's book where Levy tries to get Hugo to say a fond farewell to the Spurs fans in our last home game. Hugo politely reminded him he a year left on his contract. Then on deadline day Llloris is sitting in a restaurant with his family whilst we're all seeing on SSN that he is headed to Saudi Sportswashing Machine to sit on their bench. As we know, Hugo is then ostracised, which massively impacted his mental health based on what he has opened up about recently. It's why I don't fully buy all that crap Ange comes out with being a philosopher and a life coach and talking about life lessons and his old man. This happened on his watch, in his playing squad.

This Reggie thing sounds like another example of where our beloved club has treated a model pro disrespectfully. If Reggie is pushing back, we probably deserve it. I personally think we have shot ourselves in the foot. We have a perfectly adequate backup LB who offers the maturity of a player in his late twenties around a bunch of kids. We could be utilising him whilst we find him a new home amicably and find a better player. We do actually need better than Davies and Reggie.

It's a ruthless industry, but our club always seems to have an implied cultural problem with personnel issues under Levy's stewardship. None of this probably makes us any different from other clubs though. lol - they're all horrible.

Been reported quite credibly that he's stepped away from the football side of things quite a bit. Getting a new director and DoF type in place.

For me that seems like the kind of thing that should freshen things up.

It's not like we're not spending money. And imo it's unlikely that it's Levy deciding who we sign. The footballing side is mostly run by someone else.

But he would still ultimately be in charge of the club. As much as him stepping away from the football side is a good thing, for me it’s not enough. It’s similar to when Wenger was hanging around at Arsenal like a bad smell and some were saying he should resign from the manager position but move upstairs and take a more DOF type role but it had got to the point where it was all or nothing (no pun intended) where he either stayed on as manager or left the club as a whole. Like I said before, not many heads of companies stay on as long as Levy has, countries like the USA don’t allow presidents to serve more than 8 years to keep things fresh.

Levy might not declare an opinion as to whether a player is ‘right’ for the squad or not, but given that he is still the main financial ‘closer’ he absolutely impacts who we sign.

I still find it incredible that levy hasn't cashed in on the naming rights of the stadium and using those funds to seriously back a manager.

Reggie being side-lined will be down to Ange. If he wanted him in the squad and playing he'd be there. Without any of us knowing what has gone on behind the scenes with Reggie it's hard to say if it's justified or not. Spence looked like he was on his way out the door but seems to have knuckled down and got his way back into contention so it seems like there is a path back for players.

It's pennies in the grand scheme. It'll be 1/4 of what the shirt sponsor rights bring in, maximum.

I think the decision is having the club's name in the stadium for NFL games is worth more in brand recognition than a transactional few million a year.

It's been stated that the advertisement the club is getting from having our name on the stadium is more valuable than any naming rights deal in the offering.

Stated by whom? Daniel Levy? This Advertisement isn't buying us the world class players we need to challenge for the league. We are so far away Liverpool it's embarrassing. A fully funded cash injection. A free fully funded cash injection could triple our worth if we won the league and a serious tilt at the cl would make Tottenham Hotspur PLC fortunes. It's always been the case with his stewardship that he doesn't back the actual business of what he owns. The team.

It's a free hit. Use it.

It would realise 300 million easy. That's not pennies.

It’s all theoretical
I don’t think it’s pennies for sure
But we also don’t now the real impact
I’m stunned, genuinely, we don’t have a Korean sponsor
Samsung would be perfect for us and them even with their Chelsea history
Even KIA

It would be 20m a year tops. Advertisement from NFL, boxing, concerts, F1 tie in etc would be in the same region if not more.

On one hand you state that Levy and ENIC are only interested in bleeding us dry and on the other that they aren't doing anything to get their hands on an extra 300m.

A league title doesn't triple our value, it will increase it a little due to extra sponsorship but nothing beyond that.

The logic is lacking a little bit in your points.

I guess... But I fail to see the significance. Unless he's purposefully not doing as much to close some deals compared to others to keep his thumb on the scale, and that seems rather unlikely.

He is the main man behind hiring those who make these decisions. He's not out of the loop and probably never will be. But he deserves as much credit fit signing VdV as he deserves criticism for not signing a new LCB/LB/DM/whatever. And for both he deserves essentially very little attention.

I think the comparisons to CEOs of "normal" companies, presidents or a manager seem more relevant to you than to me.

The only thing that would change your mind is success on the pitch. The only thing that would change my mind would be if we're no longer seemingly moving in a positive direction.

The weird thing is that wefor too long, for various reasons, had a too short term squad building focus that left us in a tough spot.

But if Levy had done things differently, gone more long term he wouldn't have backed the manager and it would be his fault anyway.

CEOs are rarely part owners too
Not to the scale that Levy is

The logic is once you sign the ten year deal at a conservative 300million you can borrow off the strength of that and invest in the team.

As I say. It's a free hit.
