Finney Is Back

It is terrible going as it means we're going absolutely nowhere. The average lifespan of an EPL manager is 11 months, so that's not bad going!

He's not actually a great defender. It is just that his pace gets our high line out of trouble a lot.And TBF MVDV despite having a great start needs to put in more than he has shown since (injury aside). He has not done anywhere near enough to be demanding moves

I don't want to say too much but I believe there were a couple of players that Ange really wanted in the summer who were happy to move to Spurs but the club didn't deliver them.I disagree on the transfers part, and Ange certainly hasn't been let down on that front.
But you do make a good point re; riding out the sticky patch.
I'm still not convinced by Ange's tactics or his inability to adapt to what everyone can see. That said, everyone said the same of Arteta two years ago and Klopp in the first year or two, so maybe it is worth seeing where we are at the end of next season.
That's why I say I'll judge at the end of Xmas. A bad Xmas and we're in pre- Redknapp territory.
A good Xmas, and we'll be 5th.
That’s not gonna work if they get CL because they can’t afford the drop off of quality like they can in the Con leagueI think there’s something in that.
We’ve all laughed at Chelsea, for any number of valid reasons, but I think the way football’s going at the top end, you’re going to need a squad like theirs of at least Bo B B 30 to manage all the games and therefore ensuing injuries.
But could the club afford them?I don't want to say too much but I believe there were a couple of players that Ange really wanted in the summer who were happy to move to Spurs but the club did deliver them.
I think there is alot of that here. Porro is really poor, naïve and weak, I actually think Udogie is good but he is knackered and young. He's not actually a great defender. It is just that his pace gets our high line out of trouble a lot.
Indeed, the way that a portion of the Arsenal fan base behaved towards Wenger was appalling. Even sadder than that though is that we've got just as many macarons following us who would've behaved the same. Can’t believe we have spurs fan claiming arsenal should have sacked the best manager in their history
Thought Bergvall did well (again) when he came on. Took responsibility, was good on the ball. Up against tired legs and all that, but he did what he could. We know that the way Ange's team plays, (the amount of running, number of sprints) there will be more injuries. So we need a squad which takes account of that. Ours is clearly not big enough for two games a week. As for players like bergvall - he may well grown into a PL standard footballer, but right now he is pretty near a waste of space. Ange (or any manager) needs proper support, not players for the future.

I still struggle to comprehend how there were a few on here who wanted Pochettino sacked. I take no satisfaction at how bad things have been since he went.
He's not amazing when faced up 1 on 1 versus a dribbly winger. He's been embarrassed quite a few times in those situations. This
He does a lot to the basics well
But has elite speed
But the aerial prowess of Sonny
I have noticed he likes to give them a head start then work on his pace to recover, rather than defend with his "head"He's not amazing when faced up 1 on 1 versus a dribbly winger. He's been embarrassed quite a few times in those situations.
Kyle Walker used to do that, although as a RB there's less risk involved in doing so. Walker is excellent (underrated) in the air though for a FB.I have noticed he likes to give them a head start then work on his pace to recover, rather than defend with his "head"
One of the best RBs in world football over the last 10 years............loved himKyle Walker used to do that, although as a RB there's less risk involved in doing so. Walker is excellent (underrated) in the air though for a FB.
Where did you see that quote?Just saw some quotes "I've no interest in what the fans think"....he really doesn't help himself sometimes. And i think I've just stumbled on it for me. Teams and managers i instantly felt a connection with and felt really positive overall despite inconsistent results:
- Jol
- Redknapp
- AVB (was gutted it didn't work out)
- Poch
The rest - nah.
I'm not sure there's ever been a sense of "everyone pulling in the same direction" under Postecoglu. Maybe I thought in the early weeks of his first season I was wrong.....but that thought dissapearref and hasn't come back. I wasn't bothered one bit about our result last night and wouldn't be bothered if he was sacked tomorrow. I feel totally indifferent to Spurs right now, because I know we are going to win enough to stay away from danger but lose too many to achieve anything. And that's something I feel like is actually inherent in the tactics and managerial choices rather than purely down to "we need better players."
I remember Ali Gold saying that Postecoglu really needed a proper no. 9 for his system to work and Solanke was the one he really wanted and just wait and see what Ange.ball will look like with him in the team.....I'm still waiting Ali, still waiting .....
The club can afford who it wants. Its one of the richest sports outfits in the world. But could the club afford them?
