American politics

If you want a republican who spoke out and voted against the Iraq war, then I'd have said Ron Paul.

In 2002, Trump was for the Iraq War, in an interview with Howard Stern. The likes of Ron Paul and Bernie Sanders were against it at the time and voted as such.

Trump is a pathological liar.

How can he be a pathologicol liar

Logically what he said about the Iraq war must have been pathological as well.
It takes a lot nerve to say what he said.
Everything about that war is still mysterious as Saddam never was part of 9/11 as far as
we know.

How many people knew what was going on in that war against Iraq?
Maybe Blair and Bush did!
They said ,Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Remember?

Trump in that clip said , "I guess so" but was doubtfull about what was happening.

Not exactly a blunt lie.
Lets face it he would have known as much as you or I unless
he was an insider. He wasn't in Politics at that time either.

Sorry about the graphics...underlining. can't get rid.;)

Trump’s false claim about “thousands and thousands” of Muslims is just part of a pattern of inflammatory claims with little or no basis in fact. Here are some more — and it’s not an exhaustive list.
  • Trump boasted that he “predicted Osama bin Laden.” Nope. The book Trump published in 2000 mentioned bin Laden once, and predicted nothing about bin Laden’s future plans.
  • Trump “heard” that Obama is “thinking about signing an executive order where he wants to take your guns away.” If so, he misheard. What Obama reportedly considered was requiring large-volume private gun dealers to conduct background checks, not confiscating firearms from those who own them.
  • Trump said he “heard” the Obama administration plans to accept 200,000 Syrian refugees — even upping that wildly inaccurate number to 250,000 in another speech.Nope and nope. The number is about 10,000.
  • Trump said he got to know Putin “very well” while the two were on CBS’ “60 Minutes.”Nope. The two men were interviewed separately, in different countries thousands of miles apart.
  • Trump claimed his campaign is “100 percent” self-funded. Nope. At the time, more than 50 percent of his campaign’s funds had come from outside contributors.
  • Trump said his tax plan is revenue neutral. Nope. The pro-business Tax Foundation estimated the Trump plan would reduce revenues to the Treasury by more than $10 trillion over 10 years, even assuming his plan would create economic growth.
  • Trump told the story of a 2-year old who got autism a week after the child got a vaccine. But there’s no evidence of such a link. The study that claimed to have found a link between vaccines and autism has been exposed as an “elaborate fraud.” It was retracted five years ago by the journal that published it, and the author was stripped of his license to practice medicine in Britain.
  • Trump said Mexico doesn’t have a birthright citizenship policy. It does.
  • Trump claimed credit for getting Ford Motor Co. to move a plant from Mexico to Ohio.Ford says that’s baloney; it made the decision years before Trump even announced his run for president.
  • Trump denied that he ever called female adversaries some of these things: “fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals.” He used all of those terms.
  • Trump said in June “there are no jobs” to be had, when official statistics were showing 5.4 million job openings — the most in 15 years.
  • Trump claimed economic growth in the U.S. has “never” been below zero — until the third quarter of 2015. “Who ever heard of this?” he asked. Except it’s not unheard of. Economic growth has been below zero 42 times since 1946.

He, he what about the latest revelations concerning the great scam that was 'Trump University.' Basically a real estate sales institute where salesmen targeted the intellectually handicapped and the poorly educated to hand over cash in exchange for short courses. The guy is a total fraud. Anyone who cannot see that should see me immediately...as I have a lovely bridge for sale going cheap.

I've just looked at Huffington post . I have not heard of this before, but I can see it has its own political slant!
So they will dig up as many things as they can if they do not share his point of view on politics.
I can't say what they are saying is right. It maybe so and he has lied or put a slant on things.

Nothing wrong with that. That is Democracy.

Democracy is about freedom and liberty.

If we lose that ,we lose everything and I feel the PC
wing of politics has no time for anyone who disagrees with them.

Do you think there is any Creedence in this?
because I can see it and that is worrying.

I mean it,s OK for a newspaper to have their own point of view, not necessarily
going around misleading people or telling lies.
Mind you they could be misleading the populace. It depends what is being said and what is true to us good human beings.
However, one mans truth is another's poison.

So us, as Humans do not come together to get anywhere to make a change for the better for the human race.
and its been brick for thousands of years!
I,m waffling now! anyway.
Roger!

The Huffington Post is a bit of a left-wing douche paper, but the source of the information in that article is www.factcheck.org and they fact-check politicians of all stripes. Trump gives them a lot to work with though, because he lies constantly, hence he is a pathological liar. He is not the last bastion of truth, democracy and freedom.

Trump is a tool and is hardly well acquainted with the truth, but he's a distant second in the presidential race of lying. In fact, Clinton probably has more written about her on the topic of mail servers on that site than Trump does in its entirety.

You really think "it may be so" is a good description when talking about Trump and lying? The thing is you can say if what is claimed in that article is right or not. You just chose not to. Every one of the claims comes with a link. Click it! Read what it says and from there you have good reliable sources.

Democracy famously relies on an informed electorate. You've made your mind up and you're choosing not to seek out readily available information on the topic at hand. Bad news for democracy...

I really don't get what it is about Trump's arrogant dimwitted charm that gets people to like him.

As for political correctness there's has to be some middle ground I think. Trump is not that middle ground at all. How can you be vocally supporting someone describing women as "fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals" while also talking about there being too much PC? Is this the level of discourse you're looking for? If so I have (more) bad news for your democracy.

You have to laugh at those who are saying that Trump is lying, of course he is but to hear some you would think he is the only American leader ( wanabee) to do that. They are all at it and Bush ( the warmonger) was probably the worst.

I love America ( having lived and played there) I also have lots of American friends but the whole political set up is rotten to the core and has been for decades.

I agree -- but some people are suggesting that Trump is some sort of breath of fresh air because he is a truthful 'tells it like it is' sort of bloke. He isn't, he lies his arse off like the rest.

I agree its what they all do.

I find it incredible in a country where 48% of the population are low income or living in poverty want to vote for billionaires to run the government, but as an american I worked with told me a chimp wrapped in "Ole Glory" and holding a bible had a good chance of winning.

Indeed " land of the free, home of the brave" and all that other crap.

“Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.”

agree with all of that and the other comments above, everyone thinks they can make it here and if they don't, they're very religious and love guns, such fertile ground for republicans. But this country is changing rapidly, millennials don't share any of those old style views and even though I'm not one of them, I'll be voting for Bernie on tuesday when the primary finally gets here.

That's the single greatest thing about the US.

Nobody wants to punish the rich because everyone hopes that will be them in a few years. Compare that with the British way of feeling that they're owed something and wanting to fudge things up for everyone else if they don't get it.

“Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.”

Possibly because of government legislation and violent repression of strikes, to many it was still a better life than they had in europe, as Britain is today to people from the east.
