Its an interesting conundrum. They would definitely be my locked in 4 CMs

Personally I would keep a 5th (Bentancur as the experienced mentor, like Davies is to the defence). I'd also keep Sarr over Gallagher, if we want a versatile runner to be our second #10 in Simons' absence

But ultimately i would accept losing Bentancur and Sarr if it's the price for keeping Bergvall. We could perhaps promote Abbott to 5th CM then?

He's not that good a backup, both are passers and he isn't but I agree with moving Bentancur on if possible and replacing with a durable player of the same type who is a bit better with the ball. Could be journey man type.
 
We can't actually sign anyone else without offloading players unless we want a Chelsea situation, we've got way to many players on the books to all be named in the PL squad.

He is better than the other two and offers a different dynamic IMO. He also has a future which Sarr and Bentancur don't IMO. Ultimately in the table of who would be going first, it would be Sarr then Bentancur before Bergvall

I don't know if I agree he's better than them tbh. He doesn't really stand out to me but then I am biased towards passing midfielders, non passers are a bit of a muchness for me. Their other qualities need to really be exceptional and I don't see that with Bergvall. As an allrounder I think Sarr offers more but he's also been disappointing when it comes down to it.

I think there is alot more in his locker given his profile before he joined. I don't think the last 2 years have been the basis for seeing the best of that, especially as he is still only 20.

I think if RDZ was given the time to work with Bergvall he could massively improve him. I wish he was prepared to be patient.

But we pretty much know who is gone out of main group (Vic, Romero, Sarr plus probably Bergvall & Richi), we absolutely should know by now if there is real interest in them and can plan accordingly. Fringe players like Solomon, Takai, Yang, Scarlett aren't going to be in squad regardless. And basically we had 4 out (Bissouma, Dragusin, Palhinha, RKM) from last season. We also basically don't need to register Xavi and Odobert for first half of season.

There is room to work with

But we are going to be getting close to £60M for Bergvall and would maybe get £15M for Bentancur for at least next season Bentancur probably gives you more. Fernandes is also young. So you still have 2 older heads and 2 young players in that rotation.

I would say Bergvall being club trained next season is what swings it. It’s part of the reason why given the choice of the 3 I would pick A.

A)

Sell Spence £40M virtually all profit

B)
Starters - Porro, Fernandes & Tonali
Backup - Spence, Bentancur & Gray
Sell Bergvall £55M 80% profit

You would like to think with the money recouped so far, the money to recoup on the dross and the "we have money to spend, we are ambitious and we will break the glass ceiling" that we will have that to buy anyway
