Kevin Danso

I thought he was our best man alongside Spence. Had a few decent tackles, a few really good clearances and passes, showed good speed. Really promising, in my opinion.

Thanks. Wrong thread, but how did Spence do most of the game up against Salah?

I'm not an "analytic fan" by any means, so did not track his every move, but I think he did as well as you could expect against one of the top players for probably the best team in the world. We did double up on Salah quite a bit as well, though. Salah still got a few good crosses in, and had at least one clear goal chance inside our box, but I distinctly remember Spence following him well and tackling him out of his trickery a good few times. That being said, Spence going forward is something else (he was eventually moved up to play more as a winger as we kept conceding), and where he really shines, even yesterday, in my opinion. He gets past his men, has a burst of speed, and a willingness to attack that few others in that team have (bar Kulu).

Thought he was good yesterday. And early signs that he will be a big improvement on the ball compared to Dragusin.
Yeah, looks good. Has a bit of everything it seems, big, strong, fairly quick, quite good on the ball. Seems to fit the role well and comes in with some experience too.

Looks a bit "unpolished" at times imo, not sure if that's just settling in or part of how he'll typically play/look. Not sure on his potential for future development, but it's another one that had to work hard to get (back) to a PL level.

Seems a very good signing for the money spent and a very good addition to the squad. Profile fit, good age for what we needed.

Agree with all that PLUS I think he's got 'warrior' potential. He's gonna give it everything that's for sure.

Hope it is just a knock from yesterday's game 🙏

Yeah, seems to enjoy defending and that warrior potential you describe.

Consistency is so important for centre backs, seems he has the quality, but doing it week in week out will be part of the test for him.

Seemed like he wanted to stay on for the attacking corner we had when he got subbed (IIRC) so hopefully just a knock and precautionary.

There was a move yesterday where a let a ball pass him (to go to another Spurs player) but he shielded it from being got to by a United player, really good awareness, positioning, strength.

Agree. Looks like he enjoys defending. Big, strong, has decent pace, and does not shy away from receiving the ball. He has played quite a few fairly difficult line breaking passes, and also advances with the ball, and occasionally joins the attack. I like him!
Yeh nice touch under pressure too, really impressed me yesterday

Danso is just a proper defender I don't get nervous seeing him one on one with a player or simply holding the line. He naturally just shifts into place quite naturally as if he has a radar to help him place the other players.

That one big sprint i thought he wouldn't make it but he did.

I assume Danso had nothing more than a knock at the weekend? Haven't heard any news that he's injured.

So of those imminently coming back I think we will see sequentially:

Danso/Son/Bentancur/Werner to be available this weekend.

Van der Ven: I would not expect him to get minutes this weekend they are treating him with kid gloves - maybe the following weekend

Romero and Solanke back end of March.

Richie and Dragusin long term absentees.
