Wilson Odobert

It will be interesting if the setup changes for who we play

Against Everton, they probably had to cover/adapt for both Wilson and Deki, both will try to get past their man with some regularity, even if they fail the fact that they will do it over and over means the opposition will need to provide cover, cover means space for other players like Son and Maddison or even a midfielder coming in late (Biss).

Having someone who doesn't just look at the low block and try to draw them out with a passing sequence is a huge add to the squad.
I hope we do. We have the options and variety within the squad now. And it's a good way to rotate.

Will be interesting to see what we do against Saudi Sportswashing Machine. For me if Solanke isn't ready to start Odobert would be a natural starter. But perhaps with Sarr in midfield instead of Kulusevski for better cover for defensive transitions.

I would not leave out Kulusevski, his work rate and passing are important to the team and he's the most likely midfielder to score.

I agree that he adds some really important things to our team. But playing him in the 8 role, total of 5 mainly attacking players in him, Maddison and 3 forward players is a really attacking setup. Almost ridiculously so. Even though they work hard all of them.

Ange is a really attacking manager. But even he last season never started with that kind of lineup. Doing so away against Saudi Sportswashing Machine may very well be good, but it's worth remembering just how attacking that is.

We’ve lost two subs.

Possibly understating it - If Richy / Solanke is out then we're one knock away from Spon being back at CF plus Wilson being one of the few who can get past a man. How competitive the squad is as a whole is pretty key and subs do indeed make up a big part of it

It's a fair bit of money on a youngster, going by Ange's selections + thoughts Wilson definitely wasn't just one for the future. It's very annoying to have lost him for the foreseeable... Especially when it looks like we could do with a bit of creativity / attacking inspiration from somewhere.

people need to understand that when teams sit deep, like many have done against us, we have been toothless mainly because we don't have a 'tricky' type winger to try and surpass the deep block.

By losing Odobert, we're stuck with one type of winger like Brennan who needs to be played into space, which is lacking if the team sit deep.

Massive option lost for us with him out...

My thoughts as well, he is something different from our other wide players and gave us a different way of attacking. Early days i know for him but he looks like he has the ability to dribble pass defenders.

Muscle injuries not uncommon in the adjustment period when training the Ange way.

Hopefully the players we signed this summer won’t need a whole season for their bodies to become accustomed to Ange/murderball, as the prospect of another year of turgid sideways passing isn’t very appealing.

If Solanke is injured than Lankshear can come in. Richarlison has been injured for about 40% of his time at Spurs it is nothing new and probably the reason why the club brought in Solanke to replace him as first choice.

Also not convinced that Wilson is really much better than our other wide players at beating his opponent one on one: Hr has lots of potential but is far from being a first choose player for Spurs. As I said before, we have lost two subs.
