Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

For me, Saturday's game was as strong an endorsement I've seen for not pulling the trigger too early. That was some feat standing up to the in-form PL team and going toe to toe with them. It moved the Ange needle in his favour, despite the result.
Agreed, a narrow 1-2 defeat where we deserved more.
Compared to tonight's match, where the Arse.Anal just lost 0-2 at home to the same Newcash side

Some of you are looking at this backwards; you ask if Levy will sack Ange, due to results.

But instead, think about it as:

Levy/Munn/Lange decided to spend a LOT of money on kids.
They expected that those kids won't have much impact this year.
A decent impact the year after.
Big impact moving forwards.

So they need a special type of manager that is happy to work with those circumstances this year and not moan publicly like Conte/Mourinho would. Levy does not want drama from the manager.

And that is what Ange brings, Ange is fully signed up to this idea of buying kids and waiting out this year and then having higher expectations next season and the season after.

Ange is keeping all of the players on board. He is keeping the press on board. He is keeping 75% of the fans on board, even with a massive injury crisis.

Ange knows it is very unlikely to be "Ange himself" that benefits from these kids maturing.
So Ange is riding out these years, getting a huge salary, doing his dream job, and at some point will probably move on.

But Levy/Munn/Lange know that Ange is the right type to see this to stage 2a and stage 2b etc.

There is always a bottom .. all true but .. results have to improve or else all that leeway is gone.

I agree the Spurs job you want is probably the one after Ange (if he lasts another season), which hopefully is post we have replaced Son & Kane, we have got back into established top 4-6 and will then still be able to add the occasional Solanke type signing.

I wish it was 75% who were brought into him
I’d wager it’s less than 50% bit this forum isn’t the place to test that

Various polls on Twitter and BlueSky are at 75%
Including polls run by the fighting rooster, which is not exactly pro-Levy.

PS I lied above about Arse being beaten by the "same" Saudi Sportswashing Machine team, as I just saw that Guimaraes didn't play.

It's very much a results based game. Poor results creates lower income and unhappy supporters. It's OK building for the future when the punters are paying £10 at the turnstiles, but not when the cheapest ticket in the stadium is £95 and you are watching your team get hammered against Liverpool in the league. Tonight is the semi final of a cup, yet there will be many empty seats, why, because even the most optimistic of supporters knows we won't get to the final. The more this hits Levy in the pocket the more impatient he will get.

Fair dues
I wonder if the vocal minority don’t even vote
I know on the car tonight there are 5 of us including an 11 year old (the poor lad)
The others want a change but don’t know what and on the Ange in wrong guy

I'm not sure what Ange wants from the referees.

He was quite aggressive towards Ali Gold when he was asked whether he welcomed VAR microphones being accessible to the fans in the stadium.

The question was does he welcome the live announcement/explanation of the VAR decision, his answer (while snarky) was true, if VAR announced that Joelinton decision, does that make fans happy? I'm actually not sure if the FA has thought this out, the stadium is blocked from replaying controversial decisions on the screen but we are going to announce it?

I actually think the interesting part of that presser was his response to the question of was he under pressure
- He was very clear that everyone at the club was doing their best to help him, that everyone was aligned
- Talked about Kinsky being expected at summer and was a pull forward buy, he also didn't deny Muani
- This was a moment in time challenge, that he felt if we could achieve things/progress while dealing with all the issues, the team/club would come out stronger on the other side
- He also acknowledged regardless, at the end, the results are on him, if we continue to not get the results, he will be the accountable one.

I may have concerns about him tactically, but he does talk the talk in a way I've never seen from a Spurs manager.

I think this has been a conversation that I've seen in a lot of Levy doubter circles, not so much on here because this board is largely very positive about the man in overall charge. If Levy is willing to keep Ange even at the first sign of trouble that's a promising sign. It even suggests we can really get behind Ange because the club is willing to back him through thick and thin, something they haven't been prepared to do for any manager previously.
Right strategy, wrong manager … I hope it doesn’t burn Levy for the future when we can actually appoint a manager who is better than Ange
