Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

We have to play United, Liverpool and Southampton next with a bunch of injuries.

I'll be shocked if it doesn't get worse before it gets better.

We play Rangers, Southampton & United, then Liverpool & Forest away

Results in the next 3 are important, keep progressing in the cups, put another 3 points on the board in the league, then yes, likely to struggle still.

This is the Ange test, systems & principles matter, but sometimes you just need a few results.

I think as fans we can take Injuries, its part and parcel of the game and you have to make do. But what is getting to the majority and to me is that I expect us to give up bad defensive goals every game. There comes a point that you sticking to your guns has to be altered.

Set pieces. We constantly look like we will concede. Nothing has changed.
Defensive Cover. Playing players out of position when we have others available.
Subs. He seems to make them too late when the flow of the games has changed.

Watching the game yesterday we constantly looked outnumbered. That is not a good sign for the tactical positioning. We have players who work hard so it has to be the formation and training. Against the lesser teams we cannot break down the low block. Against the good teams we seem to get overloaded.

Im worried. I wont call for Ange to be sacked. But its getting to a point where yesterday I knew at 2-0 we would still lose that game. We are looking disjointed all over the pitch now. And watching Romero and VDV both go out again was somewhat ridiculous.

We have a keeper not suited to this system and for the foreseeable future we have a Old Davies and somewhat unstable Dragusin.
Spot on.

Ange's tactics can blitz anyone.
It's the lack of game management and leadership that is the concern - you can buy the best DM in the world, but that problem will persist.

We got 2-0 up - brilliant! Manage the game from there, adapt to stop the opposition getting back in. If it had ended 2-2 with Chelsea being excellent and the draw, fine. But Chelsea didn't need to earn it - they just had to keep doing the same thing and knew they would score. Another 20 mins of the game and they'd have scored 6

We've had a two goal lead in many other games this season without giving it up. We've also given up two goal leads with defensive managers -- anyone remember 3-0 up to West Ham with 10 minutes to go?

Shutting up shop guarantees nothing. In my opinion, the issues are clearly there. Bissouma got dragged up the pitch way too often. We need someone to sit and clean up. But you can make a change like that within the parameters of 'we are a front foot team'. And instead of being scared of giving up a 2 goal lead, you try and make it 3.

Put it this way. We've won more games by 3 or more goals than we've lost after being 2-0 up.

To be fair to the critics of Ange those 2-0 up leading to wins have been games where we've been able to play with more energy throughout. Our way of defending imo works rather well, when we're playing with energy. When we aren't, not so much.

I've very long defended Ange's "stubbornness" and will continue to do so. I think the case for making bigger changes temporarily right now is stronger than it has been in the past - at any point in the past.

But at the same time, he's looking to develop how we play, integrate younger players into that style, further develop players like Dragusin and Sarr within that style. And we don't have a defensive setup well suited to sitting back and soaking up pressure. I think a solid argument can be made for continuing down the path Ange has us on.

What imo has to change is how and when we deal with not being able to press high. Having 2-4 players press high and be fairly easily bypassed into a lot of space isn't "Angeball" and it won't work. We have to adjust quicker, communication and leadership on the pitch...

If only Son had converted either of those good chances he had to put us 3-1 up or Sarr’s header from a corner crept under the crossbar that might’ve taken the wind out of €helsea’s sails but Maresca’s tactical tweaks helped them gain the upper hand and our squad lacks the depth to go toe-to-toe for 90+ minutes with in form teams who can match the intensity of KamikAngeBall.

This was the 11th time that Tottenham lost a Premier League game after having been two or more goals ahead – at least four more such defeats than any other side in the competition's history. It was also the first time they did so at home in the league since September 2001 against Manchester United (3-5).

Missed chances, losing Romero and fatigue in the squad are imo the main reasons, not tactics as such.

It's not like a different defensive system doesn't require a lot of hard work and intensity too.

I'm still flummoxed as to why Romero was rushed back after only 1 training session when Dragusin had been performing well at RCB.

Bit like Johnson being shifted to LW whilst Werner is on bench in previous game.

Clearly the gaffer don't want Reguilon and ain't convinced by Spence, so hopefully they're both replaced next month before Porro and Udogie's hamstrings are the next to go.

Then bringing Werner on on the right.

Another odd choice.

a lot of Spurs ball under Ange is predicated on that 3rd goal. and when it fails to materialise, we collapse.

Ultimately as i've said before, i don't want Ange out, but he's not without fault and has to be accountable for his failures. His arrogance is shocking, we're not playing Kilmarnock any more and his inability to adapt will see him sacked.

As the Chelsea game showed. 2-0 up within 15mins, drop deep, play a bit of counter attack, pack the middle out a bit. Smart football and play the game in front of you. Solanke, Son, Johnson should be ruthless on counter attack.

Instead, we attack, attack, attack. Massive gap in the middle of the pitch for Sancho to just run through as our midfielders were out of position when 2-0 up. Shoots, scores. So easy.

If you dropped a bit deeper, play a bit of counter, pack the middle it forces them to cross it, where we have a defender in Dragusin who's strongest part of his game is that type of defending.

That's on Ange. That's totally on him because "that's who we are mate". and that's stupid, you cant do that game after game. his inability to learn to adapt is going to cost him his job.

I agreed with Finney re the rebuilding it could & should have been better & Hitchen wasn't the guy to do it.

I maintain poch was already done I really wanted poch to succeed but his time was up
I find it strange to think one can state that Poch's time was up when the manager hasn't been given any time to perform a rebuild. He had been honest and open in stating that the team needed a (painful) rebuild. he had proven that he had what it takes to out perform the expectation for Tottenham Hotspur on a fraction of the budget of the top teams.

Everything that has happened since Pochettino has left has surely shown that the grass wasn't any greener at all?

Pochettino's coaching combined with a top class, properly invested in, recruitment and youth departments could've been a fantastic combination. Alas, we'll never know.

Nothing to do with success I don't hate Wenger I disliked him mainly because he never saw anything he is now a FIFA puppet don't no why but I find it amusing

My hatred for Graham he played anti football took bribes hated us played & managed arsenal. Only a macaron would employ him as our manager he was the complete opposite to what I believe Tottenham Hotspur stands for

Just to clarify i am pretty laid back about most things I generally only get upset by racists & homophobia & as you can tell Graham
I once spent a good 4 or 5 hours of a flight to Singapore talking to George Graham. He was a thoroughly nice chap. We eventually ended our conversation as his partner was getting a bit peeved that he was ignoring her and spending all his time talking to me :D

It pains me to say it but at the point Sugar hired him he was absolutely what was needed at THFC. Levy sacked him at the first possible chance and brought Hoddle in to curry favour with the fan base but the timing was poor. I felt we actually had a chance of winning that semi final against Arsenal with Graham in charge, less so with Hoddle, who absolutely should've been Spurs manager but just probably not until the end of that season.

Let's see how much they really back him in January...i suspect not much when it comes to the crunch..
Well history shows us that they really pushed the boat out once in January when Redknapp was managing us.... Of course it was the window where we were in a bit of a relegation battle and not the one when we were in a fight for the PL title.

A few more bad results and Ange might get that same "don't let us get relegated" backing

Indeed. I actually disagree completely with @monkeybarry's statement regarding nothing changing even if we had the best DM in the world. I think a really good DM would be truly transformational for this team. I've lost count of the times when an opposition player drifts into the half space centrally and Bissouma just ignores him.

Glad to read that it seems it is just an element of our fan base who are the knee-jerkers.

If this continues then I might finally accept that Levy really is no longer running anything on the football side of things and letting Munn get on with it.
The truth is that Fabio Paratici and Donna Cullen are the real 'brains'.
