Transfer Rumour Thread

Rossi's a much better player than Defoe; Defoe is one of the main reasons why we will never move from the bottler tag; Defoe will score when we are winning or playing in a no win cause like the match vs United; When he actually needs to score and try to finish a chance; He bottles it and smashes the ball straight at the keeper and hopes for the best; He scores his goals in patches and his miss vs City was pathetic for a striker and he blew our title chances.

Rossi's touch, skill and finishing along with his dribbling is miles ahead of Defoe, Watch the goals in the video below; Does Defoe score goals like that?

The immediate thing you notice is that Rossi actually gets beyond defenders - something Defoe hasn't done for years. He also finds so much space due to his movement.

Not with Emirates Marketing Project and the new money in Russia, they ain't

What i just do not get is the new financial fair play rules, if they are to have any impact then big transfers like this have to be a thing of the past, unless more clubs are going to do dodgy deals with their owners to sponser their trainning grounds.

To answer your question yes Defoe does score goals like that and I'm sure you could easily put another YouTube clip featuring defoecwhixh would be equally impressive. Rossi's biggest strength v Defoe IMO is his movement and positional awareness, although I have only seen him in a few games. The big gamble is can he do it in the pl especially coming back from his injury.

FFP won't affect transfer fees between clubs just the salaries that can be paid to the players involved. No doubt they'll find a loophole to class some of the transfer as a taxfree non-FFP counting fee to the player.

Comparing Defoe to Rossi :ross:

As Gutter Boy has already pointed out, Rossi has only spent one season playing as a central striker with Villarreal.

It is. Villarreal had always gone with Rossi left of a 433. 10/11 they went with a narrow 442 with Rossi and Nilmar(sometimes Ruben) up top. The same this season except they decimated their team by selling Cazorla.

What the vids and overall stats dont show is how many goals he gets away from home which I feel is a better indication of a striker.

Judging from their track record with Lukaku he'd probably be half the player if that'd happened. Plus he'd be twice the massive cnut.
