Transfer Rumour Thread

They reckon Madrid are gonna spend that on Sterling, Hazard and Aguero. £90m to strengthen your own team and weaken 3 rivals substantially is good business. Not a clue where they will play them all, but if they are looking to offload Benzema, I'd hope we were trying to use our "special" relationship to an advantage.

Still I'll be gutted to see him in that shirt.

:ross: they think they can buy those three for £90m? I can't imagine that they'd get much change from £90m if they signed Aguero, let alone the other two as well. I'd guess nearer £150m...perhaps £70m Aguero, £30m Sterling, £50m for Hazard.

Could make some sense. Get him in now, have a chance to evaluate and then (probably) a view to a permanent move in the summer knowing a bit more what we get.

Might also free up more funds for the January window...?

Not particularly directed at you but is he any good? That is the real question.

I don't know. I know he's highly rated, but struggling to get games at PSG. Haven't actually seen him play other than his youtube compilations.

I know this might be controversial for some, but I like our signings so far under Poch. Fazio is coming along very nicely, Ben Davies looks good, Vorm is an excellent backup goalkeeper. Dier looks very promising, as does Yedlin although difficult to judge yet of course. The biggest question mark is next to Stambouli, but more due to a lack of game time so far, looks pretty useful to me.

If Rabiot follows that pattern I'm encouraged at least.

Is Rabiot coming then?

No need to sell Stambouli, he's done OK so far and needs a run of games. Seems to read the game well and get a fair few blocks/interceptions in.

On loan it is a safe enough move I guess.

To be honest that youtube was scraping the bottom of the barrel for highlights but I suppose that might be explained by his lack of playing time. If you have the time check out Depay's highlights reel from last season. It goes on for ever. If we were to gamble again on an expensive foreign import I think this is the guy.

For me he's already ahead of Capoue, Dembele and Paulinho in the pecking order (i.e. our 3rd choice CM) and it barely feels like he's started yet

How should I know?

Yeah, Depay definitely looks very talented. Also a very different player to Rabiot. And also not someone I think we'll be able to get without a bigger club stepping in and poaching him. I have a feeling they're just biding their time to let him develop where he is and if a bid is accepted from us they'll swoop in rather quickly.

I agree that his youtube videos were rather unimpressive, but like you say limited playing time so I really don't thin it's anything to go on.

...and in todays hilarious Liverpool transfer speculation news;

http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/547243/Liverpool-transfer-news-Guillermo-Ochoa-Christian-Eriksen-Martin-Odegaard

Christian Eriksen is another player on Rodgers' transfer wish list.

The Tottenham man has attracted suitors from across Europe thanks to his recent performances at White Hart Lane.

And reports in Denmark suggest that the Reds could make a £32m bid to sign the midfielder in the near future.

Anyone think we might be interested? Seems like a very reasonable price and he's still just 23.
