Transfer Rumour Thread

? Telegraph article ( I think) from August/September clearly says that Levy offered 'em 10 million quid while Calum Chambers was being sold for 16 million, and that this ****ed off the Southampton board.

In any case, avoiding Levy like the plague. Can we agree that Schneiderlin has absolutely no reason to believe a word Southampton's board utter?

Completely agree

Every comment I have seen from him since then indicates a player who is just keeping it professional.

Know you like to ride Levy, but lets be clear in this instance, a fee was agreed, MS was told he could go, Southampton fans kicked up a **** storm after the 6/7th player was sold and their board panic responded, killed the deal and ****ed MS over.

Absolutely nothing to do with Levy.

I very much doubt a fee was agreed. Yes the saints probably said he could leave, but looking at the amounts their other players were flogged off for I seriously doubt Spurs offered anywhere near what the saints wanted for their best player in Schneiderlin and just thought fcuk it he isn't going anywhere.

We were late going for schneiderlin..

You'd presume once Poch arrived in June he would have identified players he would have liked from his old club, and once the fire sale started we'd have not let it get to the point where most of their assests had already left the club before showing our interest in Schneiderlin. Plenty of people here were saying Southampton will not let anyone else leave it's too late after Lambert, Lallana, Chambers, Lovren and Shaw had all left the club.

I'm not sure we would have ever met Southamptons valuation last summer and the quoted £10m figure we offered was a little derisory. It looks to me like we tried to get him to force a move on the cheap and it got shot down by their board, so we moved on to Stambouli.

Pochettino and Baldini trip to Spain not wasted, January transfer now on

On Wednesday June 18th Mauricio Pochettino and Franco Baldini travelled to Spain for a dinner in Barcelona at which they discussed with Espanyol the possibility of signing central defender Hector Moreno. The restaurant was owned by a friend of the Tottenham manager and Espanyol's position at that time was they wanted to wait until after the World Cup because they believed Moreno's value would rise during the tournament.

Just five days after that there were reports in Spain that Moreno had told Espanyol he wanted out. Pochettino had been using contacts at Espanyol to push a possible move along but the Spanish club were sticking to their guns and wanted to wait a while. Espanyol were looking at replacements for the player but preferred to hang on a while and see if Moreno's value went up. The Mexican had been designated as the club's sacrificial cow of the summer and they wanted to get as much as possible.

Moreno's agent, shortly after the Tottenham meeting, informed Espanyol that Moreno wanted to go and and play for Pochettino at Tottenham. Espanyol wanted around €10m. At the end of the month, around June 27th, French club Marseille bid just €6m for Moreno and that made Espanyol lean more toward Tottenham in a panic for a better price.

On June 29th, Moreno fractured his left tibia playing in a pre World Cup friendly. Terrible news for the player and terrible news for the bean counters at Espanyol. If only they'd agreed with Tottenham to do a pre-World Cup deal. Imagine the inappropriate cackling from a certain someone at White Hart Lane.

Espanyol now want to sell again and Tottenham are the chosen destination. Not only that, but the Spanish club are aware they won't get as high a fee this time. A January transfer would be 'ideal' for Espanyol, say Sport. Well, it would have to be ideal because 26 year old Moreno sees his contract end in June. Perfect for Tottenham.

Or make that less than 3 mill actually if his contract is up in June.

Gotta laugh at the "work" some journalists do.

They reckon that we are looking at Ezequiel Munoz from Palermo who is out of contract this summer. The problem is that they are calling him a forward when a quick look online tells me that he is a centre back. I did a quick youtube watch and this guy looks decent enough, although I'm not a regular watcher of Serie A.

Dybala is the forward at that club who has until summer 2016 on his contract although Palermo are hoping to extend it. That lad looks a real prospect.

Is Kaboul out of contract this summer or has he got til 2016??

Would make a nice change if we could sort this out early and have him announced as a Spurs player on Jan 1st instead of the 31st.
January could be potentially be a very busy month if we progress in both domestic cups, please Daniel get the deals done early to give us the maxiumim oppurtunitues to utilise them

If Moreno is a goer then you'd have to think Chiriches is on the way out.

I really want this transfer to go ahead to just see what happens...

Transfer news: Arsenal and Tottenham poised to lead spending frenzy in January window

Inside Football: North London will be centre of activity when the market reopens, while Queens Park Rangers will not be far behind, reports Jason Burt

By Jason Burt 3:28PM GMT 13 Dec 2014

Which Premier League club will have the busiest transfer window?

The answer, according to agents and executives at other clubs, appears to be Tottenham Hotspur. Followed by Arsenal. It could make north London the centre for the month of transfer madness – with Queens Park Rangers next to follow.

Certainly Spurs will be active if the indications coming from White Hart Lane remain true. In other words – that the club’s hierarchy continue to blame the players for the team’s failings and not Mauricio Pochettino, the manager. Daniel Levy, the chairman, would like to instigate a clear-out, even if that is easier said than done.

Nevertheless it could be an active month. Spurs would love to move on their highest-earner, the £175,000-a-week striker Emmanuel Adebayor, and offers will be listened to for the likes of Andros Townsend, Vlad Chiriches and possibly even Paulinho, among other under‑performing players.

Quite how far Spurs go remains to be seen but the intent is there and while Arsène Wenger, the Arsenal manager, has played down talk of January signings the indications are that he is in the market and in the market for the right kind of acquisitions: namely a defensive midfielder and a centre-half.

I can see Redknapp taking Ade and Andros off our hands. Chiriches will most likely go to Italy on loan, Bobby to Spain on loan, somewhere like Sociedad. Paulinho to. Brazil on loan. Capoue and Dembele are under threat too.

I agree. QPR have only got two strikers and Zamora is frequently injured. Ade played well under him for us, it just seems to suit all parties. The only complicating factor could be how long he is back home for.

Albiol, Moreno, Vertonghen and Fazio sounds a whole lot better then Chiriches, Kaboul, Vertonghen and Fazio.
