Transfer Rumour Discussion Thread

Where did these come from? Really shocked about 11/12. I wonder what the criteria is for long balls in those stats too. Ekotto used to play a lot of long balls down the flanks to Bale to run onto I guess.

Yep, long ball is a very vague term

In my experience we have played long balls either strait up the wings, switch of sides, or diagonals to Bale/Lennon, which I don't equate with "long ball" tactics

A number of the teams we played this year, including some decent ones, just humped the ball over the top, time and time again.

I think long ball is a little different to a long pass.

I associate being direct with long ball to a target man in the box who just holds it up or heads it on, the likes of Bolton in the past, West Ham nowadays, Stoke, Blackburn etc. have all done this, it can only get you so far. Long passes however are what I'd associate the likes of Man Utd, Emirates Marketing Project, us, Chelsea with, those very accurate long passes down the flanks to a winger or through to a striker.

Agree with this. This video has some beauts in it. The guy has still got his range even as he gets older.

Looks like Benny is off to Fenebache, talks at advanced stage apparently!

Fenerbahçe is very advanced contact Benoît Assou-Ekotto (29 years), the Cameroon international left side Tottenham, whose contract expires in June 2015. If all goes as planned, the former Lens is expected Saturday in Turkey. History to undergo the traditional medical visit prior to the signing of engagement with the Istanbul training (Google translate)

Another website http://www.trtspor.com.tr/Haber.aspx?id=59261 gives the transfer fee as 6.5m Euros!

Right of the front three we have Lennon, don't want to replace him with Nani. Left of the front three would have to be Bale, if we played like that and well, no again.

We couldn't afford to play a front three and still have Bale performing a free role. The side would be overbalanced in attack.

Think a lot of people seeing Bale perhaps lining up on the right of a front 3 possibly. Ahh who knows.... He plays where he wants.... ( at spurs)

Metro reporting we are front runners for Mario Gomez.

Would suit me down to the ground, a recognised quality striker who isn't getting the games at his current club but undoubtedly has the ability to improve our side, not that it's hard to improve our strikeforce at present.
