Transfer Rumour Discussion Thread

Regarding Gomez.. He's not exactly clinical is he?

Seem to remember hes part of the reason why we didn't go to the champs league last year.

Why not though... for 7m and on 70k/week we could do a lot worse.

yeah the injury issue that never seems to cause a problem :-k

He's only played for two clubs who were absolutely desperate and one who could afford to write him off. No well run club has taken a risk on him.

Isn't the injury supposed to be something very fragile in his knee which will instantly end his career when it goes? I think a big part of it is that clubs can't get insurance on him because of it, which is why it is such a risk.

He had a botched knee operation earlier in his career, he says that he is fine and feels know discomfort. I think that the problem is that it is impossible to get insurance on him, so the only clubs who have taken a punt on him are ones who are signing him for free or one that has a rich enough owner to not to have to worry about him breaking down two minutes after signing.

I think both him and Patinkle Cisse have turned out to be little more than a flash in the pan.

Demba's been flashing for about 4 seasons now.

He's only been in the PL for two and a half seasons mind, and half a season of that was at Chelsea with a less than spectacular record. Previous to that (the PL) his injuries seem to have affected his appearances.

Would not be happy taking him on as first choice. As third i'd have him, however a move to Chelsea tend to leave one with an overinflated value of their own self worth, so we would be unlikely to afford his wages. He's rumoured to be on 80-100k.

I would take Cisse all day long. He may not have had the best goal scoring season last season, but he was in a team that were underperforming, so i would give him benefit of the doubt.

The form on a lot of French league forwards (from Steve Marlet to Marouane Chamakh) suggests you'd be wise not to give him the benefit of the doubt. In fact their success rate is probably even lower than Eredivisie forwards.
