****** Tottenham Hotspur vs Stoke City OMT *******

this is why i didn't want Bale to start. I wanted us to start a Siggy/Dempsey on the left to cut inside and focus more of our attacking play centrally....If bale was to start today it should have been at left back.

Lennon has been horrendous and is slowly transforming into a bit of a non entity. He doesn't attempt dribbling anymore and he cuts inside 99% of the time which is ok sometimes but not every single fudging time.

=D> someone making too much sense! but GHod forbid anyone says anything about The Crown Jewel That Wants To Leave

Patience is the name of the game and absolutely 100% concentration at the back. We just need to nick this and move on to the next one

I don't know man, patience is when you're on top of the opposition, Stoke are threatening just as much

We do need more movement. We're playing to their level and its awful to watch. Too many freaking passes in the air. Nothing on the ground, no quick 1-2s, its just hoof balls and Dawson's not helping. I know he's a neccessity for this game because of the way he's able to defend against their physical monsters, but he's just a plague that makes everyone around him pass it long (Walker's starting to do it too). I don't know how anybody could be a Stoke supporter. its just so ugly.

Maybe 3 at the back, taking off Walker and bringing on somebody with good movement? Sigg maybe? I'd even try townsend at some point. Think Parker will come on at some point too

Two up top is not working we need someone playing behind the striker picking up the ball outside their box. Stoke are packing centrally forcing us wide as Sandro and Dembele are pretty deep all the time and the movement in the box when we have crossed has not been good enough.

AVB can tweak this for the second half.

COYS

agree. 2 up just means the 6 guys defending deep around them, crowding out any space.
stoke are a good team, very well organized although 100% negative football

I'd seriously consider putting Gylfi on for Sandro. Give us an extra passer in central midfield and someone who plays comfortably a little higher up the pitch. If/When we score, we could then take off Defoe/Adebayor and put Parker alongside Dembele, with Gylfi in the hole for a more compact look.

United started with Carrick and Scholes in the middle, with Valencia, Welbeck, Rooney and Van Persie in forward roles against Stoke at home. Game ended 4-2 United. We'd be vulnerable on the break, granted, but this would at least open up the game a bit.

Ultimately I'd like to see Siggy on drifting in from the right overloading their centre halfs in the box with Ade and Defoe whenever a cross comes in from the left. Also he can play amazing through balls splitting the Stoke defence like he did last week.

IF Lennon had Dembele and Verts supporting him instead of Sandro and Walker he'd be having a much better game. Not really his fault.

With a more technical full back we'd be a much more dangerous proposition. Lennon will regularly offload to Walker who stalls and blasts it off the pitch or runs into a dead end near the byline

The reason it isnt working - again - is Lennon.

Absolutely nothing from him going forward. Never takes his man on on the outside anymore, never gets to the byline, always runs inside into trouble and his running off the ball and passing are brick. Lets have Townsend or even Sig on ffs.

We need to open them up down the flanks. Bale is doing his part - but nothing at all from the right hand side. AGAIN.
All our good stuff has been down the left because we have 3 cracking left footed players there. Can't say the same about Sandro and Walker helping out Little Legs.

Not a bad thought.
