Tottenham Hotspur V Brentford

Alternatively a bit unlucky in some of those other games?

Thought it was a close game that could have gone either way. That's been true for quite a few of our losses too.

Getting the first goal was vital.

Don’t think it’s an alternative thing - I’d say we were both luckier today and unluckier in other games.

We have not pushed our FBs high for a few weeks now my friend. We have also looked to sit deeper for large stretches of games in that time. The reason people are seeing it today is because we won.
But we did have a high line at time today, Brentford countered quite a few times against it. We also had the line super high against Elsborg (understandable of course), the entire team was in their half. I think we are a little more controlled in when we do it but we haven't actually changed. Spence was upfield a fair bit today.

I honestly think you make your own luck. You don't get deflections without taking shots, you don't get a lucky bounce with making the pass etc.

I’m talking about the luck of how well your opponents take their chances, which I think is indeed luck (aside from putting pressure on them while they shoot etc)

I kind of think it applies that way also. If you close the player down you might pressure them and put them off etc. obviously it's only to a degree but I do kind of feel like your positive actions are what make all those tiny differences.

Spence went on pretty specific raids.
I think the actual players we played together today were the diff, plus a little more time having played this tweaked version of what we do...

Personally I don’t think our performance today was better than any other match - just got lucky that Brentford didn’t take their chances, and we got a weird own goal. And I say that as an Ange fan and general optimist!

Very happy with the 3 pts though. Hopefully gives everyone a lift, especially going into Liverpool.
I generally agree. I think the difference today is that Brentford had to work for their chances as opposed to us gifting them.
