Timo Werner

I don't see it unless we have identified an incoming in January

Right now he's a key rotation option for resting the LW, Wilson is unproven, Richi is rarely fit
Moore?

The thing I find, it's the teams like Brighton who if the brought Odobert would be playing him as they put their faith in him... Then we a few months later, Spurs fans start crying, why can't we find players like Odobert...

We do, but we never have the balls to play them though and find excuses to loan them out for 6 years.

Specific to Odobert he made the starting XI eight days after signing for us at home to Everton, and then in the starting lineup following game vs Saudi Sportswashing Machine. He was featuring until he got injured, Ange has no issue playing someone good enough....

That is true, but for the last decade or two? We have had players who we have never really put our trust in, and Mourinho and clami were awful for this.

I just feel that Ange could have added tad more game time to the youngsters at certain points.

Whilst I like you would love to see them blooded I just think there are reasons not quantifiable or apparent to the typical armchair fan that play a massive part. A young players development is a very precious thing, especially at the highest level - it's not just as simple as chuck them in and they will do the business.

At the start of the season many were banging on about starting Bergvall ahead of Maddison based on some promising pre season appearances - it's safe to say that suggestion was nonsense. Ange is managing Moore well IMO, and the fact he had no issues starting Odobert tells me if ready and good enough they will get a chance to impress....

Brighton can afford to loose games, we can't. Finishing 8th for Brighton is still a good season (and the manager would be praised), 8th for us is a disaster (and manager gets fired).

Sarr, VDV, Johnson show we are more than willing to give youngsters a chance if they are ready.

Moore is 17, how many 17 year olds are getting game time in the PL, in a top 6 side? the fact that he is part of squad and does see minutes is actually amazing

Johnson, Yang, Son, Odobert, Moore, Kulusevski

Son owns the spot but needs more rotation/cover as he gets older
Johnson and Deki are critical in their roles (even less cover on RW), so aren't really options
So you have
- Yang, not even at club
- Moore, is 17
- Wilson, has one season and is coming off an injury

Timo is a stop gap, no question, my point is still the same, what's the value of not having that cover (he's experienced, he fits the system very well, his pace hurts the opposition) mid season?

The only way (for me) it makes sense is we have a proven incoming lined up.

I wish I could wave a magic wand and fix what is wrong with him. Every game he gives his all, but his finishing... his final a lot of the time, despite in a great one in the first half.

It just ain't going to work for him.

Odobert may be unproven and Richi unfit but Werner would be no loss.

Wonder if anyone still thinks he’s better for the system than Son 😂 he should be behind Moore after this point. You have to feel sorry for him but honestly we can’t afford to keep giving him minutes if he’s never going to score simple chances. It will eventually get to the point where he gets so much stick from the crowd that people feel sorry for him and get behind him like they did with Johnson. Not saying things should bet that bad before fans start backing him, I’m just predicting what I think will happen. People actually cheered when they announced he was going off which is never nice. He’s literally the last person on the pitch you’d want a chance falling to and I include the back four and the goalkeeper in that.

The crazy thing is that if we could just somehow give him that confidence then he would be amazing. The rest of what he does off the ball gets him into so many great positions to score or assist, more so than anyone else in the team.

He is a good footballer, you don't do what he done in the CL, Internationally and in Germany and not be, but he is absolutely shot, that said he is not the pantomime villain he is made out to be, which IMO is not helpful. I hope he does well with whats left of his career, here or elsewhere?

He did a couple of great things in that first half - that cross with his right foot for Moore was brilliant (imagine the pelters Werner would have got for missing that)....

It's perfectly possible to be a better fit for the system and yet be rightly behind another player because that other player is just better. I think that about him.

Horrible form in front of goal, and also playing below his usual standard elsewhere imo. But he's a decent player. If he regains form he'll be a useful player. If he doesn't we have other options now with Odobert back and Moore breaking through. That's great. If that means Werner doesn't get the chances to regain form that's football.
