Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

TS may have omitted Capoue on the basis that we will definately need a DM away to Man U.
Knowing our injury record, perhaps this was a consideration, and didn't want him getting crocked.
If he doesn't play one in this match, then I'll be more alarmed.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

better Dave the cleaner than Diane the secretary who seduces the chairman by flirting outrageously by promising a wild time in the sack but instead was all talk and no action

I don't think you've quite understood the analogy.

Diane the cleaner would have to already have run a successful company roughly the size of ours for that to work.

But at least Diane the secretary had more experience of managing than Dave; Oh and had actually won something once

aha, so she should have been exposed at a similar previous job as being not up to it??? Well Diane was;)

Scara and Indianspurs - I'm loving the analogies=D>

Still think Dave the cleaner having a go at running the firm is a joke though

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

But the stats would tell you that Capoue makes the highest no of passes per game on average out of our midfielders - perhaps he hasn't seen them?

Can't really imagine stats will come into Sherwood's preparation for games. The scouting team that provided AVB with his analytic aanalysis are all gone. Seems to base his tactics on 'we set up this way, up to them to deal with it'

Seeing the starting lineups in the last two league games has left me increasingly worried. When Sandro is fit again, and Paulinho back from suspension, I imagine that will be the first choice CM pairing.

Then the choice will be whether to play Soldado and Ade together, or drop one and have Eriksen in the No. 10 position

All the top teams play with a deep lying holding midfielder who is physically strong and good in the tackle and passes it simple. Ferandinho, Mikel/Ramires, Arteta/Flamini, Carrick/Fellaini/Fletcher, Mccarthy, Tiote. Most of those teams do not play with 2 out and out strikers either so when they have the extra man in the middle they have less need of a defensive shield. We have gone 4-4-2 with no natural DM and we look lost in the middle of the park. I was at the game yesterday and it was one of the most unpleasant Spurs performances I have seen. It was ugly. TS to me looks like a man without a clue, tactically naive and stubborn and arrogant in his selection. I hate this appointment.

well then take your frustrations out on the numpty running the club

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Despite rumours he is only keeping the seat warm until a bigger name steps in, Sherwood, 44, added: “I regard it as an insult, but it is only an insult if I go and win all the games. What can we do?

“If we win all the games and someone else comes in and keeps it, and brings someone else in after I’ve won the league, then I’m going to Real Madrid.”

........

When I said "I hate this appointment" rather than "I hate TS", what did you think I meant?

P.S I do dislike TS, similar to how I disliked Harry but am happy to see him do well, but the early signs are that we will struggle to be top half with his selection and formation ideas.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Can I ask what is it you saw in AVB that made him such a world class manager?

I don't think AVB is world class.

What I do see in him is the realisation that if we want to get (and stay) in front of the bigger spenders we need to do something more than just playing to the best of our ability.

A perfect example of how he was slowly doing this is the late goals conceded last year. The traditional English way of fixing that would be to shout really loudly at players switching off towards the end of the match. Instead AVB moved the more thought-intensive parts of training to the end when players were more tired.

Now, giving NBD all the credit in the world (and there must be something going on in that head of his in order for Levy to give him the job), do you honestly think that's something he could come up with and implement?

i just remember you being totally against TS being appointed even before he managed a minute of a Spurs game, so i guess that clouds your judgement of every move he makes

I don't know, it's not been long enough, he needs "as long as it takes"

That's fine if he's trying to implement something longer term. NBD himself has told us how simple football is, and that we just need to attack. If that's the case, why should he need time?

But you said i should have a go at the club when i clearly already was having a go at the club. That was my point.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

It seems Timmy is employing similar tactics to Mr H.Redknapp. The main difference being that he does not have Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Rafael Van Der Vaart in the team.

He needs to realise that fairly quickly.

You shouldn't take everything he says so literally, I'm sure by saying football is simple he doesn't mean he can win every game, but you can overcomplicate things as AVB did. The results may not be great so far but at least we have more than 1 player in the box when we have an attack these days. If we were judging managers by how well they speak then AVB would be the greatest manager in the world.

OH FFS why dont we just ask AVB & Timmy to go on Mastermind....or compare IQ tests....

Tim has feck loads of injuries for a start and didnt get the luxury of a pre-season......How some can assume they know the inner workings of Tims mind is totally beyond me.....even if he did have plans he cant even get on the training ground atm with all the fixtures to implement them.

I am amazed........some posters of this board seem to have turned completely irrational overnight.......those who would look at AVB in a balanced way and highlight his successes and failures seem totally comitted to 100% prejudice against Timmy.... statements are being made with absolute certaintanty....its mind blowing.....none of us know how this will all pan out but it seems to me there are those praying for timmy to fail so they dont have to worry about having egg on their face.

As Pirate said in WBA OMT too many people playing judge and jury unable and unwilling to hear any evidence....Sherwood is already convicted!!!!

3 games & a boat load of injuries........Give the guy a chance FFS........
