Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Despite rumours he is only keeping the seat warm until a bigger name steps in, Sherwood, 44, added: “I regard it as an insult, but it is only an insult if I go and win all the games. What can we do?

“If we win all the games and someone else comes in and keeps it, and brings someone else in after I’ve won the league, then I’m going to Real Madrid.”

........

where are these quotes taken from mate?

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

OH FFS why dont we just ask AVB & Timmy to go on Mastermind....or compare IQ tests....

Tim has feck loads of injuries for a start and didnt get the luxury of a pre-season......How some can assume they know the inner workings of Tims mind is totally beyond me.....even if he did have plans he cant even get on the training ground atm with all the fixtures to implement them.

I am amazed........some posters of this board seem to have turned completely irrational overnight.......those who would look at AVB in a balanced way and highlight his successes and failures seem totally comitted to 100% prejudice against Timmy.... statements are being made with absolute certaintanty....its mind blowing.....none of us know how this will all pan out but it seems to me there are those praying for timmy to fail so they dont have to worry about having egg on their face.

As Pirate said in WBA OMT too many people playing judge and jury unable and unwilling to hear any evidence....Sherwood is already convicted!!!!

3 games & a boat load of injuries........Give the guy a chance FFS........

He can't win mate. He either fails or he succeeds and gets better results than AVB but it's only because he's had AVB's players and AVB would have succeeded anyway.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

We're entering the "Lads on internet forum see the most blindingly obvious things that a team of pro football coaches can't" Zone.

- Did Sherwood manage our youth teams for 5 years (and, for that matter, win a title as a player) without understanding what a DM is?
- Did he get all those UEFA badges without learning that a 442 leads to an open game?
- What about Chris Ramsey? Has about every coaching qualifications in existence and is one of the best regarded coaches in England, but he didn't tell Sherwood that his selection left our dodgy CB's exposed?

By all means criticise Sherwood & Co., but it gets ridiculous when the basis for that criticism is that Sherwood doesn't understand the most basic of tactical basics.

Meanwhile, AVB is shrouded in mysterious golddust that made his formations somehow sophisticated.

- An attacking 6 scoring at relegation-zone rates? Oh yes, but he has 2 DM's protecting Dawson & Vlad! Grown-up coaching, that.
- 3 or 4 chances created for our £26m striker in 15 games? Yes, but that's just because our £200m squad hasn't, erm, clicked yet.
- Playing Lamela on the left? Well, it was just that once! (The actuall solution to the Lamela problem: Don't play him at all!).
- The most shots in the EPL! Yay! (Nevermind we're the only team in the top half with a negative GD. 37 - THIRTY SEVEN - worse than Emirates Marketing Project. 27 worse than Liverpool. Over half a fukking season! Hell's fukking bells).
- 1-1 v.West Brom? Fundamentally different to 0-3, 6-0, 0-5. Just because...
- 18 months = not enough. 10 days = too long.

Love this post, sums up a lot of my thoughts that I have not had time to put down here..

I'm sure he does know all those things, so why did he decide not to go with a DM? Does he think that we were better man for man so didn't need one? Or does he think Daws and Vlad didn't need the cover?

It just seems a bit odd, like he's saying 'this is my way, this is my selection', ignoring the fact that it might be the wrong blend.

I regard it as an insult that I've paid £1000+ for a season ticket and they have put a YTS trainee in charge

but would you have been happy to have paid that 1 grand plus and continued to watch the boring, turgid football and lack of goals being scored under AVB?

Was just as turgid yesterday if not more, attack just as bad and no protection in front of the back 4.

I must say I do like that quote, I think TS does great at building himself up in the media so he's taken seriously. It's a good, funny sound-bite that removes the idea that he is just a caretaker, and gives him some legitimacy.

It is very possible that Sherwood could lead us to a CL place and Levy still replace him in the summer with a bigger name, a more high profile candidate like DeBoer or Van Gaal. How many people would take on a job in such circumstances? Sherwood knows who he is dealing with

who said the process of change was ever going to be smooth. Im prepared to wait. AVB had enough time to show what he had in his locker

How many managers would want to work for Levy period?

I think ego's of managers will make them want to take the Spurs' job because it from the outside in often looks like a team that is so close to competing. And the manager who does that will go down as one of the greats

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

I do like also Sherwood's assertion that we need to play more one-touch around the box. It's something Emirates Marketing Project, Liverpool and Arsenal do very well but as he said, 'we are too reliant on getting the ball to bounce for us' which isn't great.

He talks some sense in his interviews, so good on him.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Just as many as would want to work for any other chairman, probably more than real joke clubs like Cardiff, Palace, West Ham etc.

Givne his history of either not backing manager or firing them too early, I would think some managers would be put off and would see Liverpool or Everton for example as more attractive jobs.

There was a time when Everton weren't that patient. Moyes' tenure lasted as long as it did mostly due to their increasing financial shambles and the fact that he was relatively successful on that budget. Kenwright has been on the board since 1989.
